Key of Q

Based in Kingston, NY, we are an auditioned 30-member group of LGBTQ and allied singers who travel from all corners of the Hudson Valley to blend our voices and perform beautiful a cappella music together! Formed at the beginning of 2016, we focus on mostly-modern secular music in four-part harmony. Common themes within our music include equality, love and celebration of identity in its many forms. We perform at least two themed concerts per year as well as various smaller gigs and private events, and have been known to break out into song whenever and wherever we congregate after rehearsals!

Key of She

Kickshaw

In early 1997, Kickshaw won first place in the Regional Harmony Sweepstakes competition. This is a title only awarded to nine groups throughout the nation each year. Following the 1997 competition, Kickshaw decided that they were ready to pursue music full time.

In search of their own sound, Kickshaw began working with some effects to extend their already eclectic repertoire. This addition was an instant hit with their audiences as they were able to create the sounds of a full band, effects and all, with just their voices giving Kickshaw a sound all their own.

Kiki Queens

We formed in October of 2017 as a group of live-singing Drag Queens and other specialty performers. The seed was planted when one of our Kiki Queens attended a Rubi Girls fundraising show in Dayton, Ohio. For those of you who don't know the them, they are a fantastic group of men who have been raising money (over $2 million) through drag performance for the last 30 years. Check them out, they are inspiring!

She brought that idea back home to Chicago where luckily she had a group of pretty talented friends, some of whom had performed in drag together previously. She pitched the idea of raising money for local LGBTQ+ nonprofits through live-singing drag performance and it was a no-brainer for all the Queens...and fo

King Sisters

Originally christened "America's First Family of Song" in the 1960's, The King Family, comprised of "big band era" greats The King Sisters, guitar virtuoso Alvino Rey and the 32 sisters, brothers, husbands, wives, aunts, uncles and children that made up their extended musical family, catapulted to fame following just two dazzling appearances on ABC-TV's The Hollywood Palace to become one of the most popular and beloved television, recording and concert acts of the 1960's and 70's.

Acclaim from audiences and critics alike for their 'Palace' appearances led to their first headlining television special, The Family is King, in 1964. That special's ratings-topping popularity landed the musical group its own weekly ABC-TV showcase, The King Family Show, during 1965 and 1966. An audience favorite, the series featured the entire musical family in various groupings --The King Sisters - who'd already established themselves as one of the nation's top vocal groups, and the next generation's contingent The King Cousins, featuring Tina Cole who went on to star as "Katie Douglas" on CBS' My Three Sons, along with the irrepressible King Kiddies whose musical talent and effortless comedic timing were a staple of these tune-filled hours.

Kirby Stone Four

The Kirby Stone Four were one of those ubiquitous white vocal ensembles that seemed to pop up everywhere in the 1950s, drawing on several musical genres and melding them into an attractive pop sound -- they displayed a harder, more complex, and occasionally provocative edge than most of their rivals, which, along with their selection of repertoire, helped distinguish them from the pack. Though never as conspicuously successful as, say, the Four Freshmen, the Kirby Stone Four generated a series of singles and a small number of albums that evoke their era about as well as those of the Four Freshmen, the Lettermen, et al., with a very upbeat, swinging sound not too far removed from the music that Frank Sinatra was making around the same time -- though Sinatra would probably never have stood still for the occasional novelty-type tunes that they recorded.

Kirkland Choral Society

Kirkland Choral Society is the Eastside's largest choral group. Begun with only eight voices in 1988, we've grown to nearly 100 talented members from all over the Puget Sound region. KCS is committed to creating a quality experience not only for our audiences but also for our singers, providing opportunities to socialize and enjoy the process of creating music together.

Kitka

Kitka is an American women's vocal arts ensemble inspired by traditional songs and vocal techniques from Eastern Europe. Dedicated to developing new audiences for music rooted in Balkan, Slavic, and Caucasian women's vocal traditions, Kitka also strives to expand the boundaries of folk song as a living and evolving expressive art form. Kitka's activities include an Oakland-based home series of concerts and vocal workshops; regional, national, and international touring; programs in the schools; recording, publication, and broadcast projects; master artist residencies; commissioning; community service work; and adventuresome collaborations.

Founded in 1979, Kitka began as a grassroots group of amateur singers from diverse backgrounds who met regularly to share their passion for the stunning dissonances, asymmetric rhythms, intricate ornamentation, lush harmonies, and resonant strength of Eastern European women's vocal music. Under the direction of Bon Singer from 1981 to 1996, Kitka blossomed into a refined professional ensemble earning international renown for its artistry, versatility, and mastery of the demanding techniques of traditional and contemporary Balkan, Slavic, and Caucasian vocal styling.

KlapaDooWopella

Despite forays into other genres, the quartet always returns to its first love, the moan of the sea that is the primal chord of the Klapa sInger.

The Knoxville Handel Society was chartered on June 1, 2016 as a charitable corporation in the State of Tennessee. The purpose of the society was to establish a collaborative choral group in the Knoxville Metropolitan area for the enjoyment and performance of classical masterworks.

Knudsen Brothers

SIX are six real brothers. They actually come from a family of ten brothers, no sisters and are the six oldest in the family. Apparently their mom and dad (Arnold and Joyce Knudsen) wanted a girl.

Barry Knudsen is the eldest and was born in Davenport, Iowa. Kevin Knudsen is second and was born in Farmington, New Mexico. Lynn Knudsen is third and was born in Mesa, Arizona. Jak Knudsen is fourth and was born in El Paso, Texas. Owen Knudsen is fifth and was born in Seattle, Washington and Curtis Knudsen, number six, was born in Seattle as well. Their father worked where he could to support his family which explains their nomadic beginnings.

The four younger brothers are a huge support to their six older performing brothers and play an important part behind the scenes.

Kokomo Men of Note

Music in the style of barbershop. Singing the old, new, blue, and joyful songs that ring in beautiful harmony for all who listen.

Kol Zimrah

What makes Kol Zimrah uniquely Jewish is how we have blended the many strands of Jewish life in the Chicago area. We have negotiated various issues of halachic balance: a respect for Shabbat around the timing of commitments on Saturday night in support of individual practice, deference to the customs of the synagogues we visit, and a common comfort level around head coverings and issues of pronouncing words associated with the name of God.

Kol Zimrah has made a significant impact on the Jewish musical scene in Chicago and nationally. Our music is always greeted with enthusiasm by those who come to listen. Our supporters are not only lay people but cantors and other Jewish musical professionals, some of whom have participated as volunteers in the ensemble.

After a concert, it is not uncommon to be approached by an individual with tears in their eyes: they had never been so moved by or taken such pride in Jewish music, they were overcome by the experience of a large Jewish choir, or they sensed the transmission of sacred text, spiritual insight, and a treasured inheritance from generations past, all conveyed through the medium of singing.

Koleinu

Founded in 2002 by Hazzan Dr. Scott Sokol and local singer Larry Kozinn, Koleinu, Boston's Jewish Community Chorus, is an eighty-member chorus of adults of all backgrounds that performs Jewish choral music for audiences in Boston and beyond. Its primary mission is to provide its members, regardless of their previous musical experience or religious affiliation, an opportunity to learn, sing and perform Jewish music in a meaningful way. Carol Marton, lauded for her skills as a conductor and teacher, is Koleinu's founding Artistic Director, and Koleinu's accompanist, Asia Meirovich, brings many valuable skills to this role. Koleinu has been praised for its expressiveness, repertoire, and for the high musical standards it maintains as a non-audition chorus.

Koleinu's repertoire encompasses a wide range of Jewish choral music, including liturgical, secular, contemporary, and traditional styles. Rehearsals are engaging and emphasize the power of musical expression.

Kolot HaLev

A choir where everyone willing to sing is allowed to participate. Members are not required to audition. All of us have heard of the deep, sometimes permanent, damage inflicted to those individuals that love to sing but are told decisively that they are not good at it and they shouldn't try. Our premise is that with enough love, dedication and guidance everyone in regular physical conditions can overcome musical difficulties and be able to enjoy singing.

Although Kolot HaLev is a community-based, volunteer organization, we adhere to high musical standards and ask that people who join share our commitment to upholding those standards. Formal voice or musical training are not expected in order to sing, though developing vocal skills in private study is encouraged.

Kona Choral Society

The Kona Choral Society Chorus is that rare blend of accomplished musicians and enthusiastic novices who make choral treasures come to life! La Caccina

La Caccina finds its namesake in Francesca Caccini, a prolific Baroque composer known for her virtuosic musicality and beautiful singing voice. Following in Caccini s footsteps, the women of La Caccina bring a wide range of expertise to the ensemble, enabling them to easily adapt to a variety of musical styles from Renaissance madrigals to South African folk songs, and from contemporary pop songs to classical masterworks such as Vivaldi s Gloria in D and Britten s A Ceremony of Carols.

Since 2011, La Caccina has collaborated with ensembles including the Pavo String Quartet, the DuPage Symphony Orchestra, and bluegrass trio Glass Mountain, and has commissioned and premiered works by Marie-Claire Saindon, Timothy C. Takach, Augusta Read Thomas, Matthew Harris, and Melissa Dunphy, among others. No matter the music, La Caccina s expressive, emotional singing highlights the versatility of the treble voice and brings musical excellence, integrity, and honesty to every performance.

Nine Voices. Unlimited Styles. Exceptional Sound.

La Peña Community Chorus

The La Pena Community Chorus has been singing songs of peace, justice, and hope since it began in 1978. Started by the Chilean exile community who founded La Pena Cultural Center in Berkeley in 1975, the original mission of the Chorus was one of solidarity with the resistance against the dictatorship in Chile. But over the years our focus has expanded to other countries, including the struggles of people in El Salvador, Nicaragua, Mexico, Cuba, and to various labor, community, and women's struggles closer to home. Our music includes not only the Nueva Cancion (or "New Song Movement") of Chile, but styles based in the folk and social justice movements of all of Latin America. We sing in nursing homes, elders' residences, hospitals, migrant labor camps, juvenile halls, rehabilitation centers, and schools, in addition to our public concerts and performances.

Labyrinth Choir

Walking a labyrinth--a single-path puzzle--in order to reach the center is analogous to an inner journey to find one's spiritual center. We invite you to join Labyrinth Choir on our musical journey "seeking the heart of music through the art of singing."

Labyrinth Choir collaborates with its audience and with local artists in order to create a new type of thematic musical performance. The audience is invited to sing, speak, and dance, so that concerts become participatory events, rather than passive experiences.

Some ideas include creating podcasts for audience members to learn more involved, intricate pieces prior to the performance. The entire audience can then sing in four-part harmony with the choir to create beautiful vocal music. Labyrinth choir performs various genres of music: classical, spirituals, jazz, and popular songs.

We plan to feature local artists - painters, photographers, poets, writers, dancers - and give them opportunities to share their arts within the context of Labyrinth concerts.

Our musical mission includes supporting other local choral and instrumental ensembles and collaborating with them in performance.

Ladies Quartet

As music educators and long time barbershoppers with 30 years of combined barbershop singing experience, they have enjoyed spreading the love of harmony with musicians of all ages, and look forward to continuing to do so in the years to come!

Lads of Enchantment

While some quartets continue singing for years as International Champions, others are forced, for one reason or another, to "hang up the pitch pipe" soon after winning the gold. The Lads of Enchantment, 1957 winners, was one of the latter.

And yet tenor Don Pitts, lead Dan Aycock, bari Carl Wright and bass Gil Wallace, all from Albuquerque, left their mark in some areas as indelibly as did the Suntones.
