Du Droppers

The Du Droppers, like so many of the pioneer R & B vocal groups that came to prominence in the late 40s and early 50s had their genesis in the field of gospel music. The original members of the Du Droppers were Junior Ginyard on lead, Willie and Harvey Ray on tenor and baritone, and Eddie Hashow on bass (soon replaced by Bob Kornegay). In prior years different members of the group had been part of such gospel groups as the Royal Harmony Singers, The Dixie-Aires, The Jubilaires, and the Southwest Jubilee Group. The newly named Du Droppers worked on some R & B material and soon auditioned for record producer Bobby Robinson and radio d.j. Joel Turnero owners of the Harlem based Red Robin label. The first record released by the group in December of 1952 was that special niche of the early years of Rhythm & Blues, the "answer" record. In this case the tune was "Can't Do Sixty No More" answering the Dominos massive hit of "Sixty Minute Man". The flip side of this first outing by the group was "Chain Me Baby" on Red Robin #108. Playing off the long popularity of the Dominos hit the Du Droppers got instant "name" recognition and publicity that go along with airplay and demand by the public for the record.

Dubuque Chorale

The Dubuque Chorale is a community vocal group located in Dubuque, Iowa. It is a 40-year-old community organization, with a great legacy.

We look back on forty rich years of performances and rehearsals, magnificent symphony concerts, intimate a capella programs, potlucks, picnics, and tours around the world. Through these years a thousand singers from the Dubuque area have lent their voices to the song, and thousands more have heard us.

But we also use this time to look to the future with expectation and excitement! We're continually recruiting new members and exploring new ways to enrich our community with our passion for excellent music.

Due North

We are Due North. Hailing from the Twin Cities area, Due North is one of the Midwest's newest a cappella ensembles. The name was inspired from Minnesota's formally adopted French motto "L'Etoile du Nord" meaning "Star of the North".

Due North prides itself on being the perfect fit for any audience. Whether the setting is calm and mellow, or energized and wild; Due North will bring a refreshing taste to the music you know and love, while adding new songs to file away in your personal playlist. Duke City Sound

The Duke City Sound is a barbershop chorus representing the Bernalillo County Chapter in the Rocky Mountain District of the Barbershop Harmony Society. The chorus draws its members from throughout Bernalillo county, including the cities of Albuquerque and Rio Rancho.

We are looking for more men to join us in singing barbershop music, ringing chords, and learning the advanced skills needed to take both quartet and ensemble singing to district competition and beyond

Dunava

Dunava ("the Danube") is Seattle's premier Balkan women's choir, made up of singers with broad musical and performance experience and a passion for intricate harmonies and varying vocal technique. Dunava is dedicated to studying and performing traditional folk songs from Eastern Europe with respect and authenticity, and introducing audiences to these beautiful vocal traditions and songs.

Dunava is affiliated with the Radost Folk Ensemble, and has performed at Northwest Folklife Festival, Croatia Fest, the Seattle Folklore Society concert series, the Seattle Art Museum, and at Seattle Town Hall. In 2014 Dunava was the first American group to participate in the international Silver Buckle folk festival in Kjustendil, Bulgaria. Dunava has released two CDs, Dunava (2009) and Bulgaria (2013), and is currently recording another album.

Dundalk Chorus

he Dundalk Star Spangled Chorus is a community of women who gather together in celebration of the four a cappella art form, known as Barbershop! As a chapter of Sweet Adelines International, The Dundalk Star Spangled Chorus was formed over 60 years ago for the purpose of teaching members four part harmony and appreciation of the Barbershop style, while sharing in the joy of music and supportive friendship. We are committed to advancing the musical art form through education, competition and performance, as well as individual musical growth.

Durango Choral Society

For over 50 years, the Durango Choral Society (DCS) has drawn singers from the Four Corners area interested in performing choral music. Our mission is to enhance the musical and cultural development of our community through the promotion and participation by the DCS members in musical programs for the benefit and enjoyment of the community.

DCS has grown from a small, casual group of singers to a vibrant non-profit organization that has four top notch performing choirs: the 100-voice mixed choir, the 16 voice Durango Women's Choir (DWC), the Durango Children's Chorale (DCC) and the Durango Youth Chorus (DYC). We are proud that we have a seat for singers of every age.

Our mission is to enhance the musical and cultural development of our community through the promotion of and participation in the ACCESSIBLE choral arts. We work hard to keep our prices low and create opportunities for all interest singers and audience members through scholarships and donations. Emphasis is placed on providing educational opportunities for both singing participants and audience members. We are committed to offering our community exemplary and diverse concerts of the highest quality. Our touring groups have performed by invitation across Europe and the United States. Most recently, DCS was thrilled to be the 2016 recipients of the Chorus America/ASCAP Alice Parker Award for Adventurous Programming. We had many plans for our 50th season, 2019/2020. 2020 has us re-visioning a resilient return to live singing and, until then, an expansion into the virtual concert realm.

Durham Children's Choir

he Durham Children's Choir is a singing group of students from the Durham, North Carolina area. The first auditions were held for the choir May 17-19, 2004. Over 134 children came to the auditions; they represented most of the Durham Public elementary and middle schools, private and church schools, and home schooled children. 100 children were selected for the choir. The Choir was originally directed by Scott Hill, retired teacher with the Durham Public Schools. The choir is currently directed by Dena Byers, the music teacher at Hillandale Elementary School. The accompanist is Jeff Whicker, organist at Mount Sylvan United Methodist Church.

The choir performed with Bobby McFerrin in their Inaugural Season at Duke University.

The Durham Children's Choir studies and performs a wide variety of choral music, including sacred and secular music, world music, gospel, Broadway and American popular songs. Music theory and appreciation are included in the weekly rehearsals.

Durham Community Chorale

The Durham Chorale is a community chorus group whose members share a love of singing. The purpose of the Chorale is to provide a musical environment to help enlighten and educate both participants and the community by exposing them to the history and variety of choral music. We accomplish this through public performances, by involving students from public and private schools in voice singing, and by educating Chorale members in proper choral and performance techniques. We perform two concerts each fiscal year, one in December and one in May. In addition to performing within these concerts, the Choraleers (an auditioned subgroup of the Chorale) perform 3 to 4 additional concerts at public venues (e.g., shopping malls, civic events) or for smaller audiences (e.g., retirement homes, busine

Eagan Women of Note

The Eagan of Women of Note, a 55-member community choir in the southeast Twin Cities suburbs, has been inspired to reconvene in a safe, remote way that will keep members musically connected to the community and each other. While COVID-19 prevented concerts and sing-outs at the end of their 2019-2020 season, the choir now plans to rehearse together this Fall in small groups online, record one song per month, and send "virtual choir" videos to our Community Engagement Partners. "Keeping EWON members connected through a digital-only season will be a lifeline during this pandemic, especially in winter," says director Taylor Quinn, who has led the choir for the past eight years and worked closely with its volunteer board of directors in shaping the virtual season.

Earthly Sound Vocal Ensemble

Earthly Sound is a professional chamber choir which specializes in music inspired by nature. The ensemble's repertoire includes Renaissance polyphony, spirituals, contemporary works, vocal jazz, and folk songs from around the world.

East Bay Harmony

East Bay Harmony is an a cappella chorus of women and men that offers an opportunity to all to experience the joy of singing in harmony with others, learn and improve musical skills, and promote music in a warm, welcoming community. With no auditions required, EBH embraces popular music as a source of enjoyment and connection that can be shared by all, regardless of background or musical experience.

East Carolina University Chamber Singers

Because of the more demanding rehearsal and performance schedule, the 32-36 voice Chamber Singers invites only the most gifted and passionate choristers from ECU to be amongst its ranks. Designed to perform twentieth-century a cappella repertoire at a professional level, this ensemble also delves into the repertoire of the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries on a biannual basis in order to present baroque masterworks using historically informed performance practices in collaboration with ECU's Early Music Ensemble. The televised performances of G. F. Handel's complete Messiah performed on original instruments in the spring of 2003 attracted impressive audiences and earned rave reviews. The Chamber Singers, most of whom are voice majors from within the School of Music, tour annually and received a standing ovation for their performance at the 2002 NC-ACDA conference in Greensboro, NC. The Chamber Singers will combine with the University Chorale and the ECU Symphony Orchestra to perform at the 2003 Fall NCMEA Conference in Winston-Salem.

East Central Minnesota Chorale

David Clarke founded the East Central Minnesota Chorale in 1980. Clarke was choral director at Cambridge High School, and after leaving Cambridge, became Director of Music at Normandale Lutheran Church in Edina. Dr. Dennis Port, now conductor of the Bethel University Choir, also served as director for a few years. Over 150 East Central Minnesota residents have been members of the Chorale. Some of our members have been involved since the Chorale's first year.

East Texas Men In Harmony

The "East Texas Men In Harmony" is an all-male a capella chorus that sings in four-part barbershop harmony from all over the East Texas area, representing over 20 towns in the Greater Tyler area, and as far away as Lufkin and Nacogdoches. Our members come from all walks of life, and represent all age groups. The love of Barbershop Harmony brings us together to sing at civic clubs, corporate parties, awards banquets, and anywhere else people gather for an evening of musical enjoyment. The chorus is an affiliated chapter with the International Barbershop Harmony Society, with over 750 chapters and 24,000 members.

East Valley Chorale

The East Valley Chorale unites singers from over 50 Phoenix area churches. We share God's message of love and salvation at local churches, community events, retirement communities, and nursing facilities.

The Chorale was formed in 1999 when another volunteer church choir "hit the dust." Because many churches were transitioning to small worship bands, former choir members had limited opportunities to sing and share their love of God through music.

Dr. Bruce Cochran, who had been directing church choirs for over 20 years at the time, took a creative approach. He provided a haven for these displaced choir "refugees." The chorale began with only 12 singers from three different churches. There are now nearly 100 singers from about 50 Phoenix area churches.

The East Valley Chorale performs 25 to 30 concerts yearly. In addition to our standard venues, the Chorale also enjoys performing at the Phoenix Veterans Home every summer and was honored to sing at the Gilbert Constitution Day Celebration and at the Fiesta Mall. Our annual Christmas concerts at Crossroads Nazarene Church in Chandler and at the Mesa Regal RV Park are the highlight of the year; these events include full orchestral accompaniment.

The Chorale repertoire includes Hymns, Light Classical, and Contemporary Christian arrangements. We have recorded six CDs and our music is available to stream or download for listeners worldwide.

Eastern Connecticut Symphony Chorus

The Eastern Connecticut Symphony Chorus (ECSC), a subsidiary of Eastern Connecticut Symphony, Inc., is comprised of approximately 80 auditioned singers, who range in age from high school students to octogenarians. Under the direction of Chorus Director Wendy Moy, the volunteer ensemble presents classical works by Beethoven, Mozart, Haydn, Mendelssohn and many other major composers, as well as works by contemporary composers such as John Rutter and Morten Lauridsen.

Eastern Idaho Chorale

The Eastern Idaho Chorale is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization devoted to the presentation of beautiful choral music. Our choir members reflect the diversity of the communities in the Southeast Idaho area.

Eastman-Rochester Chorus

Now in its thirty-fifth season, the Eastman-Rochester Chorus is a select symphonic chorus consisting of singers from the greater Rochester community and students from the Eastman School of Music. The chorus presents works for chorus and orchestra in collaboration with the orchestras of the Eastman School of Music and the Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra.

The chorus has presented a wide spectrum of repertoire, ranging from masterworks of Bach, Beethoven, and Handel to Rochester premiers of works by Christopher Rouse, Dominick Argento, and Leonard Bernstein. Recent performances have included the Britten War Requiem, Beethoven's Missa Solemnis, and the Vaughan Williams Sea Symphony. The chorus has appeared with numerous distinguished conductors, including David Zinman, Robert Shaw, Gerard Schwarz, Jerzy Semkow, and Christopher Seaman, and is a founding member of the Greater Rochester Choral Consortium.

Easton Choral Arts Society

Our vision is to contribute to the cultural life of the community by providing a volunteer organization to local singers of all ages who are committed to the challenge of choral music repertoire study and quality public performance. For those who have a desire to continue or renew their shared love of music, voice and singing in this way, ECAS offers a most wonderful and joyful experience.

Easton Choral Arts believes in the power of music and its ability to meaningfully contribute to a rich and satisfying life experience for mature and young people alike. For high school age students between the grades of nine and twelve, the ECAS Choral Scholars Fund offers an annual scholarship to deserving candidates who have demonstrated a talent and interest in choral arts study. By a process of audition and interview, a student is chosen and awarded the scholarship which can either be applied on a semester by semester, or annual basis

Echo A Cappella

We are a semi-professional a cappella group here in New York City that pulls together singers from multiple different walks of life. Although we all have our day jobs, our love of music brought us together and Echo was formed.

Aside from working in a range of different fields, we also travel around the NYC metropolitan area performing a cappella covers of yesterday and today's hits.

Eclectic Choral Artists seeks to enrich the choral art through diverse and challenging programming, artistic excellence, collaborations, and promoting new music, while connecting its listeners, singers and composers.

Eclipse 6

Eclipse is a vocal group of six creating explosive sound, driving rhythms, and lush harmonies using only one instrument: the human mouth.

The six members of Eclipse originally met while performing in a public relations /ambassador-oriented group that was part of the department of Programs and Entertainment at Utah State University. They began by arranging their own vocal covers of popular songs and performing them on campus and in the Logan area. Increasing public interest and performance opportunities led to the recording of their first album, "Once," which was released in April 2001.

The Edge Effect's signature sound blurs the genre line and weaves a colorful tapestry of infectious beats, intricate harmonies, and spectacular vocal acrobatics. Edina Chorale

Singers come to Edina Chorale from many area communities and at different times in their lives. Recent college graduates join us to continue choral singing they enjoyed in high school and college. Some singers find us mid-life, rediscovering or newly developing an interest in choral music. EC is proud of the "lifetime of choral singing" the group represents. Our members love the variety of music we sing - from Brahms to the Beatles!

Edlos

The EDLOS, you might ask? Four guys who sing without instrumental accompaniment... A Cappella. What's with the name? The story they tell is that the name is an acronym for Excessive Decibel Levels from Outer Space and that they're refugees from the planet "A" which circles the star Capella in the constellation Auriga. The story goes on, but let's cut to reality here for a minute. These four classically trained guys; Eric, Larry, Ed, and Craig were destined to take their schooling, talent, and juicy voices into the 21st century, always breaking new ground in their never ending pursuit of A Cappella diversity and originality. Speaking of diversity, the EDLOS have three shows to offer. Their critically acclaimed Popourri Show, which consistently draws standing ovations, is made up of eclectic originals and familiar favorites.

Edmond Community Chorale

Edmond Community Chorale (ECC) is a community choral organization formed with the clear understanding that through music, one can reach the hearts of others. Edmond Community Chorale began in 1988 under the directorship of Dr. Lon Dehnert. He formed the choir to fill the Edmond community with song. Dr. Karl Nelson assumed directorship of the chorale in 2008.

Eight Tracks

The Eight Tracks are a close-knit, semi-professional, Boston based a cappella group who bring a wealth of musical experience and passion to their singing. They perform regularly around the greater Boston area, singing energetic arrangements of crowd-pleasing hits and popular classics. Their debut performance was in the Fall of 2013 at the Hard Rock Cafe in Boston, where they took third place/best vocal group among 11 other acts. For The Eight Tracks, it's all about sounding tight and letting loose.

El Paso Chorale Society

El Paso Choral Society Choirs have regularly performed with El Paso Opera, El Paso Symphony Orchestra, Las Cruces Symphony Orchestra and Juarez Symphony, being the backbone of El Paso region musical choir collaborations for the past 15 years.

Elastic Four

Roy Frisby enjoyed singing as a young man and made some extra money as a professional singer while attending high school and college. He studied voice at the Indianapolis Conservatory of Music.

The quartet rehearsed about eight hours a week in 1942 to prepare for that year's SPEBSQSA national contest in Grand Rapids, MI. Sixty quartets competed; there was no preliminary round of competition. The quartet appeared in straw hats, canes, suits, and spats; some quartets objected to their "fancy attire".

Elgin Master Chorale

The Elgin Master Chorale is a cultural cornerstone of Elgin and the Fox Valley creating a thrilling, emotional experience for audiences at each performance by achieving an overall level of excellence in singing, presentation and production. Elgin Master Chorale is comprised of approximately 85 adult singers - admitted by audition only - who share a passion for choral masterworks and other fine choral repertoire.

Far from a solitary organization, Elgin Master Chorale creates collaborations with performing arts organizations such as the Elgin Symphony Orchestra, the Maud Powell String Quartet, and others that elevate and energize the entire community.

We annually produce an educational outreach concert, with matinees free of charge created specifically for the engagement, education, and artistic enjoyment of young people. We are committed to educational outreach in performing for - and with - area students who learn to value the arts as an integral part of their growth and a path to achieving their full potential. Elgin Texas Community Choir

The Elgin Community Choirs provides a musical outlet for residents of Elgin and surrounding areas. ECC also provides education on vocal techniques, music literacy, and choral literature.

Elizabethan Syngers

The Elizabethan Syngers is an auditioned choral ensemble in the Twin Cities dedicated to performing music of and inspired by The Renaissance. Founded in 1971 by Paul Hendrickson, the ensemble is currently one of the longest performing musical ensembles at the Minnesota Renaissance Festival and a favorite among festival patrons.

In addition to MN Renaissance Festival Appearances, The Elizabethan Syngers perform an annual holiday concert in December and are a frequently contracted ensemble for entertainment at corporate parties, apple orchards, parades, celebrations, and more.

Elm City Girls' Choir

The Elm City Girls' Choir (ECGC) has earned a reputation as one of America's finest youth choirs. Founded in 1993, ECGC is an elite program, which provides unique performance opportunities and conservatory-level training in vocal technique, musicianship, and conducting for choristers of prodigious talent. ECGC has performed at Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center, and Walt Disney World, and has recorded with artists including Yale Schola Cantorum, The Whiffenpoofs of Yale, Peter Eldridge, and the New Haven Symphony Orchestra.

The group has appeared on live national television with Diana Ross and has completed concert tours of Italy, England, Canada, Mexico, and China. Choristers of The Elm City Girls' Choir collaborate closely with members of the United Choir School faculty and play essential leadership roles in the organization. Each member of ECGC attends two weekly rehearsals in New Haven plus one or more rehearsals with United Girls' Choir ensembles for which she serves as a Teaching Assistant and/or Student Conductor.

ECGC is open by invitation to choristers of extraordinary talent who have completed at least one year in the UGC Mentor Program and have demonstrated outstanding musical leadership and exemplary citizenship.

elmo THUMM

Once upon a time, the greatest acappella group in the Midwest was a buzz in the ears of Milford, MI.

From 1998 - 2010, elmoTHUMM wowed audiences with their aggressive sound, rich arrangements, and energy, They won countless contests, accepted awards, played for Presidents and royalty, filled TV screens, and worked their way into the hearts of kids and parents throughout the country. We miss them.

In 2010, their personal schedules and goals conflicted and eT was unable to appear at quite a few gigs, so the group was forced to disband. BUT...Greg, Adam and Jason have recently begun singing together again and hatching schemes for 2 new members...word is the group will be called THUMMp. Cool.

Ember

ember is a 6-piece vocal band from Baltimore, MD. They seek to create energetic live performances with the combination of dynamic vocalists, an internationally-ranked beatboxer, and a high-class blend. In the past year, ember competed at Carnegie Hall during the Varsity Vocals Open finals, debuted their original single "Bad Romantic", and have performed around the country from L.A. to North Carolina, to Boston, and their home of Baltimore. Emerald City Chorus

Emerald City Chorus members can attest to the fact that dreams do come true! In late 2006 we envisioned a vibrant and thoroughly motivated chorus with aspiring goals and visions. Most of all we wanted to have fun! As we come together each week for rehearsal, we experience wonderful camaraderie, the best possible musical education, and the exhilarating feeling of singing one of America's original art forms, barbershop harmony. Goosebumps have been known to appear on many occasions!

Sweet Adelines International is a worldwide organization of women singers committed to advancing the musical art form of barbershop harmony through education and performances. This independent, nonprofit music education association is one of the world's largest singing organizations for women. "Harmonize the World" is the organization's motto.

Emerald City Voices

Emerald City Voices is a Seattle-based a cappella ensemble whose members have been singing together since 2005. Originally started as a group of friends who met in a community choir, they now sing extensively during the holidays, at Mariners games, and around the Seattle area, as well as host multiple concerts benefiting local charities. The members of ECV are committed to high-quality a cappella music, entertaining performances, and having fun together!

Emerald City Women's Chorus

The Emerald City Women's Chorus is a non-audition chorus in north Seattle for women of all ages who love to sing for the joy of it. Our chorus is a supportive community of singers who sing a mix of 3 and 4 part music and a variety of genres, including contemporary, classical, folk and rock 'n roll. Besides having fun, we continually strive for an excellent sound.

Emerald Coast Chorus

We are the Emerald Coast Chorus from Fort Walton Beach, Florida. We have been a chapter in the Sunshine District of the Barbershop Harmony Society for 40 years. We are a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization who enjoy sharing 4 part barbershop harmony with our community.

Emerald Ensemble

Emerald Ensemble is a professional chamber choir featuring the finest voices in the Seattle area conducted by Dr. Gary D. Cannon. We sing music of all periods and genres, with emphasis on classical choral repertoire. Beyond traditional concerts and recordings, we also bring music to locations where the arts rarely extend, such as schools, prisons, hospice care facilities, or homeless shelters. Our mission is to help all people through great choral music presented with passion and skill.

Emmanuel Quartet

The Emmanuel Quartet is an acappella gospel group that has been singing since 1993. In 1997 the quartet won a national talent competition in Jackson, TN. The group has toured throughout the United States and in 2007 sang for 12,000 people in Jakarta, Indonesia for evangelistic meetings. In June of 2009 the quartet participated in an evangelistic effort in Silang, Cavite, Philippines. The quartet has released five albums independently and in 2010 completed our sixth project titled "Hymns - By the Book II."

From the very beginning, The Emmanuel Quartet has always kept a vision in mind of what the Lord would have us to do. God has brought four men from out of the world to minister to His people in a time when ministry has been used for personal gain and not for His glory. We feel that it is important for our group to live what we share with others. The members of the quartet are not only musicians by desire but are ministers of the gospel through music. Phillip, Joey, Tim, and Ryan are committed to spreading the news of Christ's soon return.

Empire A Cappella

Empire was launched in September 2010, bringing powerful all-female a cappella to New York City and beyond! In addition to local performances, they have toured the US, participated in the Harmony Sweepstakes competition, VoCAL Nation, auditioned for NBC's The Sing-Off, and headlined a major fundraising event. Empire has garnered a large fan base throughout the Northeast, stretching out to small towns in Iowa, and as far as California.
