Kinsey Sicks : Boyz 2 Girlz : 1 CD

Kinsey Sicks : Boyz 2 Girlz    Out of Print

The high-priests of parody, the Kinsey Sicks, have returned to tweak our collective consciousness with provocative chansons such as "Queen of the Nile," "I Will Swallow Him" and "Titanic: Why Does Celine Go On?" The irascible and gender-bending foursome of Winnie, Trampolina, Rachel and Trixie are not content to rest upon their tightly-clad derrieres, after the success of last year's "Dragapella," (and selection as "Audience Favorites" at San Francisco's Harmony Sweepstakes Regionals). Seven tracks recorded live, at their raucous stage-show (19 songs in all). Six originals, including "I Wish You Peace," an ingenuous goodbye to those nearest and dearest to their hearts; this rare break in levity is perhaps the most touching of all.

Songlist: Diva!, The Group Kinsey Sicks, Where The Goys Are, I Will Swallow Him, Gay Sera Sera, Baby Dyke, Song For An Answering Machine, Dead Princess, Queen Of The Nile, April Sat On My Master's Face, El Nino, Gay, Straight Or Bi, Wear Names, Baby In The Bathtub, I Wish You Peace, Titanic: Why Does Celine Go On?, Inflatables, Papirossen, Anal Warts: A Sing-Along

Kinsey Sicks : Dragapella : 1 CD

Kinsey Sicks : Dragapella    Out of Print

Yes, this CD is everything the group's name implies, and more! Taking on issues as serious as AIDS and as hilarious as the never-ending pursuit of bodies beautiful (their own or someone else's), this quartet is flagrant in its willingness to gore any sacred cow. The only taste they could be accused of having is musical. The arrangements and harmonies, while not innovative, are perfectly respectable and provide a satisfactory backdrop for the lyrical content. "AZT," a parody of the Jackson Five's "ABC," uses the names of HIV medications in a perfect synchronization of words and rhythm. "Impossible Mission" is a paean to Tom Cruise, "Lifesize Jesus" an homage to Karen Carpenter. The "Kinsey Sicks" theme song is an X-rated group mission statement (Dragapella "puts the sin in syncopation"). The Supremes' "Love Child" is fatally lampooned in "Baster Baby Blues." Dragapella's social satire will be a favorite, no matter your orientation!

Songlist: Brava!, Gentle Loving People, Kinsey Sicks Theme Song, Take Me Home to Meet Your Mama, Lifesize Jesus, Men Are Pigs (But Why Keep Kosher?), Be Here Next Year, The Rose, Impossible Mission, Begona's Song, Self-Esteem, Keep Your Hands Away, Worry, Proud Marys, AZT, I Wish I Knew How It Would Feel to Be Free, Baster Baby Blues, Macaroona, Beaver

Kinsey Sicks : Oy Vey In A Manger : 1 CD

Kinsey Sicks : Oy Vey In A Manger    Out of Print

The Kinsey Sicks, our favorite Drag Queen Comedy A Cappella quartet since we first saw at the SF Harmony Sweepstakes Regionals, have given us an early holiday gift, their 4th recording, a manic live Christmas CD, which we opened with great anticipation. And, although the humor is as brilliant as we are sure the material in their off-Broadway show was, we have to warn most people right here that there is some pretty rank material, notably "A Lay In A Manger," "O Come, Ye Unfaithful" and "Feliz Navidad Parody," with the Sicks' own caveat "(Trust us, we can't print the name)" that you had better believe. Even the live audience of primarily gay males (judging by audience response to references like local gay hookup mecca Buena Vista Park) seemed taken aback by some of the sex jokes-certainly not for kids or Christian fundamentalists. That being said, it doesn't try to be. Some of the funniest stuff is skits like "The Story of Christmas," where the "girls" tell Trampolina about subletting the manger while Jewish mom Mary is wintering in Florida, who comes back because they "wouldn't let her fly Virgin Airways," and brings her property managers The Three Weismans, and lawyers from the firm of "Gold, Frankincense and Myrrh" who give them "an eviction notice of great joy." They are joined by Mary's relatives "Uncle Christ, Aunty Christ..." who want to order take-out ("Pontius' Palate or Judas's Carry Out?"). 24 songs or spoken bits: "God Bless Ye Femmy Lesbians," "Crystal (Meth) Time In The City," "Jingle Bells, Don't Ask, Don't Tell," "Chanukah Medley" (Jews Better Watch Out), a nice live reprise of their Bobby McFerrin parody, "Worry," "'Tis The Season To Drink Stoli," the spot-on "Vanna White Christmas," and "Soylent Night" (preceded by "Oh, Yes, the Donner Party!") which take us queasily in a cannibalistic direction-I think you get the picture. If you love the Sicks and their edgy- and over-the-edgy humor, "Oy Vey" is your stocking stuffer, if you're new to them or easily offended, You Better Watch Out!

Songlist: Dragapella Chorus, God Bless Ye Femmy Lesbians, Winnie Looks Radiant, I Had a Little Facial, The Story of Christmas, Crystal Time in the City, The Truth About Chanukah, Chanukah Medley, Jingle Bells, Don't Ask, Don't Tell, A Lay in a Manger, Oh! Hoey Night, Worry, Tis the Season to Drink Stoli, Let's Let the Carolers Sing!, Christmas Medley, Soylent Night, Macaroona, Jenny Craig Feel My Sorrow, Papirossen, Harried Little Christmas

Kinsey Sicks : Sicks In The City : 1 CD

Kinsey Sicks : Sicks In The City    Out of Print

After wowing the crowds at a couple of Harmony Sweepstakes Bay Area Regionals and a West Coast Summit, this highly entertaining quartet went on to a critically acclaimed off-Broadway run with their show "Dragapella." The show was nominated for a prestigious Drama Desk Award for Outstanding Lyrics and it's clear from the 18 new songs that Rachel, Trampolina, Trixie and Winnie have been busy little boy/girls. "You're Scaring Us," sung to the tune of the 5th Dimension's "Aquarius/Let the Sunshine In" is a hilarious anthem to gay men's (and everyone else's) aging horrors. "Cruise People Uglier Than You" goes strangely well with the segue "Don't Let There Be A Morning After." The ode to a yuppie real estate agent, "Bugle Boy on Avenue B" musically explains why you can't afford your apartment. Then comes the aria to telemarketers "MCI will call you..." to the tune of "Bali Hai." This review is getting verbose, but it could easily be twice as long - this is brilliant, dangerous and funny stuff. We loved them live, and we love this CD!

Songlist: You're Scaring Us, Locked Out of the Chapel of Love, Amour, amor, Cruise People Uglier Than You, Don't Let There Be a Morning After, Ad Nauseum, Bugle Boy on Avenue B, What You Never Told Me, MCI, Dubya, Fetish, Leaning Close, It's Crystal Time in the City, Snatchmaker, Snatchmaker, Nice Jewish Girls, Proud Marys, Everybody Loves a Drag Queen, Sexy Underwear

Kinsey Sicks : I Wanna Be A Republican : DVD

Kinsey Sicks : I Wanna Be A Republican

In their first live concert film The Kinsey Sicks reveal the shocking news: they have gone Republican. In this mock GOP fundraiser, Rachel, Winnie, Trixie and Trampolina, the four gifted singers and comedians who comprise the quartet, defend their conversion to conservatism. They sing - literally! - the praises of corruption, tokenism, greed and all things nuclear (both families and bombs). The film, shot over two nights with five high definition cameras at the Broadway Studios in San Francisco, captures the final performances of the live, touring version of the Kinseys' I WANNA BE A REPUBLICAN stage show which they developed during the 2004 election season. Touring for over a year nationally, as well as in Canada and Mexico, "Republican" was performed not only in major cities, but also in small towns and red states -- to wildly appreciative audiences. A cappella has rarely been funnier!
