Columbus Symphony Chorus

The Columbus Symphony Chorus, in its 59th season, continues to excel under the direction of Ronald J. Jenkins. Under his leadership for the past 37 years, the Chorus has grown both in the quality of its performances and in the diversity of its classical repertoire.

The 130-member Chorus, comprised entirely of volunteer singers from central Ohio, performs major works from Bach through the 21st century. Past performances have included the requiems of Brahms, Verdi, Faure, Mozart, and Durufle; the Bach B Minor Mass; Mozart's Grand Mass in C Minor and Coronation Mass; Haydn's Lord Nelson and Harmonie Mass; Haydn's Creation and the Seasons; works by Rossini, Orff, Walton, Britten, and Prokofiev; and concert performances of operas, including, Bizet's Carmen. In 2013 the chorus premiered Stephen Paulus' "Of Songs and Singing," conducted by Jenkins and commissioned by the chorus to honor his 30+ years of service. In addition to their classical concerts, the Chorus's annual Holiday Pops concerts, conceived and directed by Jenkins from their beginning in 1983, have grown into one of the best-loved musical traditions in the central Ohio area.

Columbus Women's Chorus

Patty Daniels and Rose Zingrone were the founding mothers of Columbus Women's Chorus (CWC). The two planned and advertised an organizational meeting, which took place on November 2, 1989 and was attended by thirteen women. After a discussion of ideas and vision, Naomi Weinert, a charter member, reluctantly agreed to become the first Artistic Director. CWC began practicing in the homes of singers, but soon began renting rehearsal rooms in various local churches.

CWC's first performance was March 17, 1990, at the National Lesbian Conference Regional Caucus Meeting. Soon after, we joined the Sister Singers Network and, to date, have participated in five national Sister Singers Festivals. In 1992, we began our tradition of an annual spring concert. In 2000, CWC achieved 501(c)(3) status, incorporated in the State of Ohio, and formed a board of directors, with both community volunteers and CWC member-singers.

Also in 2000, CWC was awarded the Montreal Women's Memorial Award, given by the Lesbian Business Association "to a group that has contributed to the empowerment of women in Central Ohio."

Committed

Committed is an a cappella singing group comprised of six educated, young, men who love creativity, music, and God. The group began in 2003 at Forest Lake Academy and solidified their sound while at school at Oakwood University in Huntsville, AL. Committed has grown to be a very sought after a cappella group for many events around the United States, and also overseas.

Committed has been compared to many a cappella groups like Take 6 and Boyz II Men. However, what sets Committed apart is their versatility. Four out of six of the members are instrumentalists and all of them are able to sing various styles of music from gospel, pop, R&B, contemporary worship, and jazz. Their versatility and goal to inspire all they encounter has kept them creative and has placed them on major stages such as NBC's "The Sing Off."

Common Ground

We were originally formed as Boise Pride Chorale in March 2000. In 2002 the Chorale was reorganized as Idaho Voices for Diversity, In 2008 the chorus rebranded as Common Ground Community Chorus.

Common Woman Chorus

Our name is derived from a Judy Grahn poem that reads, in part, "a common woman is as common as a common loaf of bread . . . and will rise." The Chorus began in 1983 as a feminist chorus. We celebrate our heroes, reflect on the personal and political struggles of women and the disenfranchised, and are committed to musical excellence and social change.

Membership is open to all woman-identified, gender-nonconforming, and transgender individuals, with a goal of diversity in ethnicity, age, sexual orientation, gender identity, interests and beliefs.

The Common Woman Chorus unites a choral community of richly diverse voices to nurture high quality musicianship and to be a beacon for justice, equality, and love through the healing power of music.

Commonwealth Chorale

We are an 80-member auditioned non-professional chorus in greater Boston performing a broad repertoire of choral music. ommonwealth Chorale is dedicated to creating musical performances that delight and touch the heart of both audience and performers alike by bringing to life the expressive power and intent of the composer. We will not have done our job if you leave a CC concert unmoved.

Commonwealth Chorale presents both beloved masterpieces and new works we frequently commission. We have taken on challenging works that non-professional groups rarely tackle, such as Poulenc's Mass in G and Milhaud's Psaumes. Our most recent commission, in 2019, is a work by Carson Cooman, As We Are Changed, in honor of Maestro Carrier's forty years with the Chorale. We believe in growing and stretching musically, and we think it's fun.

Commonwealth Youthchoirs

Commonwealth Youthchoirs (CY) is a non-profit, community-based, non-denominational 501(c)3 arts organization headquartered in the Germantown neighborhood of Philadelphia that proudly administers five distinct programs that nurture a love of singing and a desire for excellence in over 800 young people in the Southeastern Pennsylvania and South Jersey region. CY offers outstanding choral education and life-changing performance opportunities to its young people here at home and abroad.

Community Choir of Arizona

Community Chorus at Peabody

The Community Chorus of Peabody brings adults of all ages and backgrounds to make music together in Baltimore city under the direction of Kristen Toedtman. We strive to be a vehicle for community interaction by engaging our audiences in singing and by hosting several Open Sings throughout the year for all who wish to attend.

Community Chorus at South Berwick

The Community Chorus at South Berwick is a group of singers from over 25 communities who come together for the joy of preparing excellent choral music, and performing fine concerts in our communities. The chorus provides dedicated, non-auditioned singers with the opportunity to enhance their musical knowledge and skills, while enjoying the fellowship of working with others in this common musical endeavor. In our 46th season, CCSB continues to bring outstanding choral music to audiences in seacoast Maine and New Hampshire.

Community Chorus of Port Townsend and East Jefferson County

The chorus has two seasons a year, normally culminating in two concerts per season. Winter or holiday concerts are generally in early December and the spring concerts are generally in April or May. We are often accompanied by orchestras of talented local musicians. We encourage participation by experienced and novice singers 16 years and older. Part of our mission is to provide a forum for those who are returning to choral music

Community Chorus Weston

The Weston Community Chorus draws its members from 17 Boston area communities including Brookline, West Roxbury, Needham, Framingham, Wayland and Weston. We sing a variety of musical genres.

Community Gospel Choir of St. Louis

ringing together singers from all backgrounds, the Community Gospel Choir seeks to build bridges that restore unity to "community." Through the rich tradition of African-American spirituals and the energy of Gospel music, we deliver the messages of hope and joy found in the Good News.

The choir was formed in the summer of 2007 and has grown to more than 60 members. It has become recognized as one of the premier gospel choirs in the region.

We are proud to be one of the most diverse choirs in the St. Louis area. We will continue to stand united against racism and injustice, as we support our Black neighbors, friends, sponsors, choir members and musicians.

Community Music Center Chorus

Community Singers of Lake Norman

The Community Singers of Lake Norman had its beginning during the summer of 2017 when several friends gathered to discuss the possibility of forming a singing group that would be open to all who enjoy singing and sharing talents with our communities. The friends brought different backgrounds, diverse ages, and different singing experiences to the table. The excitement of creating a new group formed a bond that resulted in a 60+ chorus that has been giving back to the community ever since. The members of that first season represented singers from various church choirs, from school and theatre groups, and from community choruses from across the eastern seaboard. As we continue, albeit in somewhat different ways, we look forward to bringing in more singing friends and to giving more of ourselves to our communities.

Con Brio Choral Society

Con Brio is a classical, auditioned, chorus, with more than 70 dedicated choristers. It is known for the variety of its repertoire, sparkling programming and excellent musicality. Since it was founded in 1997 Con Brio has performed regularly to a growing and loyal local audience. The choir has made seven overseas concert tours, with the most recent to Slovenia and Croatia in 2018, and the eighth, to Italy, scheduled for 20

Con Brio Women's Choir celebrates, honors and empowers women by performing choral music of excellence and diversity. We are an enthusiastic, multi-generational group of women with roots in many countries of the world. Con Brio performs a broad spectrum of song, from classical to Broadway to opera to world music while working to hone our skills as singers and musicians. Through our singing we hope to uplift and inspire our audiences!

Con Brio Women's Choir performs in the Columbia Choirs concert series and in the community throughout the year. Con Brio has travelled to Arizona, Canada, New Mexico, Oregon and New York to perform jointly with other women's choirs and mixed choirs.

Con Tutti

The Con Tutti! mission is to create a comfortable atmosphere where men and women can express themselves with singing and celebrate the seasons with multicultural music and myth. Con Tutti! is an alternative chorus for men and women.

Concentus Women's Choral

onceived and founded in 2000, our small ensemble is devoted to exploring the wide variety of classical music, ranging from medieval chant through contemporary compositions, written specifically for women's voices. Ensemble members are experienced singers who share a commitment to lifelong learning as musicians. In addition to yearly full length concert presentations each year, Concentus performs at several special events in the Greater Rochester and Central New York area.

Concert Choir of Northeastern CT

This valiant community chorus has developed the talents of local unauditioned singers, nurtured members from the ages of 14 through more than 85, and has kept the choral art alive in our part of the state. A series of gifted directors has maintained excellence for the choir, including founder Warren Geissinger, Daniel Graves (now director of choral studies at Earlham College), Lucinda Mosher, Nancy Crane, Neely Bruce (director of choral activities at Wesleyan), Michael McCarthy, Ben Davidson, and David Belles.\

Concert Chorale of Nashville

The Concert Chorale of Nashville was founded in 1998 by Sherry Hill Kelly. Since its beginning, CCN has been committed to performing great choral music with excellence.

The most obvious venue for choral music is in churches, but CCN has also performed at The Parthenon, the historic Belcourt Theater, the Alexander Looby Center and the Renaissance Center in neighboring Dickson. The 2002 Christmas concert, sponsored by the Metro Parks and Recreation Department, drew the largest attendance ever for such an event at The Parthenon.

The Chorale has also ventured out of state for concerts in Paducah and Bowling Green, KY. A concert to benefit the W. O. Smith School concluded the 2001-02 season. A joint concert with the Nashville Community Concert Band concluded the 2004-05 season and raised significant funds to benefit Alive Hospice.

Concerts to benefit Room In the Inn have been featured at Christmas time in recent seasons. Significant funds have been raised in support of this worthwhile ministry to the area's homeless.

CCN has presented three benefit concerts for the historic Church of the Assumption in the Germantown section of Nashville, and, a 2010 concert at Hillsboro Presbyterian Church helped raise funds in support of the church's educational ministry in Guatemala.

Concert Chorale provides scholarship funds each spring to an aspiring high school senior through its Vocal Scholarship competition.

The Chorale has worked with Metro Nashville Public Schools in implementing a program of Mentoring Concerts with local high school choral programs, most recently with Antioch and John Overton high schools.

Concert Singers of Cary

The Concert Singers of Cary seeks to enrich the community and support the performing arts through outstanding choral music. Our auditioned choirs of over 100 voices offer musical performances featuring varied genres and creative collaborations with local and national musicians.

For 30 years, we have offered programs designed to elevate, provoke and entertain our audiences, and to promote musical growth within our membership.

Concert Singers of Greater Lynn

The Concert Singers was organized in 1979 to provide an opportunity for musically talented people to receive instruction in, and perform choral music under professional direction, as well as to stimulate interest and appreciation of music in the North Shore area.

The Singers' first performance, Handel's MESSIAH, with orchestra and professional vocal soloists, was presented to a standing room only audience and, since that time, such audiences have become standard.

A tradition has been established in which the programs have included a variety of musical styles from Bach, Mozart and Vivaldi, to American Musical Theater, to folk songs and spirituals.

Two fall concerts and two spring concerts are performed every season. Additionally, there are occasional smaller concerts presented by select members or volunteers.

Since its inception, The Concert Singers has had the following Musical Directors: Rev. David F. Gallagher, Ms. Sonja Dahlgren Pryor and Mr. William C. Sano. Mrs. Carol A. Dixon is a past Associate Director.

Probably the one item that separates The Concert Singers more from other choral groups is that all our concerts are free; we are the only choral group on the North Shore that provides free concerts to the public. This has been accomplished through a combination of contributions and grants from a variety of sources, both public and private, as well as through dues and a semi-annual lobster roll sale. It is only with the cooperation and dedication of the membership that The Concert Singers have been able to maintain this unique feature of providing free concerts.

Conchords Chorale

The Conchords Chorale has been honored as one of the premier community choir groups in the metropolitan area of Portland, Oregon. With 35-40 members (ages 19 to 83) who share a love of music. Our Wednesday night rehearsals are filled with fun, joy, music, and laughter. Concerts are polished and alive with a spirit that brings joy to our audiences. Because much of our music is familiar, it's not unusual to see the audience singing along with us on the choruses. From January to May the group prepares a program of pop, show, folk, or jazz for concerts in May and early June. From September to November the group prepares a Christmas program that is offered in December.

CONCORA (Connecticut Choral Artists)

CONCORA has been praised as "one of the premier musical forces in the state," "one of our region's priceless musical assets," and "a model of choral artistry."

For more than four decades, CONCORA has enriched the Greater Hartford area with concerts of beautiful choral music presented by its professional singers. Now in its 46th season, the ensemble enjoys an extraordinary reputation for artistic excellence throughout New England.

Under the direction of Chris Shepard, now in his fifth season as Artistic Director, the ensemble's versatility is displayed in its wide range of repertoire and in the crafting of ensembles from among the choir's roster of singers to produce an extraordinary range of choral color and dynamic range for each program and performance space.

Choral music has the power to cross cultural boundaries and to move hearts, and CONCORA's mission to reach a broad and diverse audience extends not only to the choral aficionado, but also to those who may be touched by the beauty of the choral art for the first time.

Concord Chamber Singers

Concord Chamber Singers, under the direction of Dr. Jennifer Kelly, is a 40-voice community chorus with high musical standards and friendly, supportive members who sing a diverse repertoire of both classic and contemporary works.

Last year's season included two sold-out Yuletide Feasts at the Northampton Country Club, a concert celebrating the work of siblings Felix & Fanny Mendelssohn, and exciting collaboration with Lafayette College to premiere a new major work by Gabriela Lena Frank featuring international soloists and grammy-awarded Chiara String Quartet.

The Concord Chorale, located in Concord, NH, is an auditioned vocal ensemble, dedicated to excellence in the performance of choral music for the enjoyment and cultural enrichment of its audience and members.

Founded in 1969, The Chorale performs a wide variety of programs regularly in Concord, and throughout the state. In the recent past, The Chorale has performed at Christ Church and Phillips Exeter Academy in Exeter, NH, the New Hampshire Music Festival, The Music Educators National Conference Eastern Division and its National Convention in Chicago, and throughout New England, Europe and Canada.

Concrete

An award-winning vocal band based in New York City, Concrete uses three-part harmonies and a low, rich sound to reimagine pop hits, classic rock and indie tunes. With lyric melodies and a smooth blend, their arrangements are uncomplicated and soulful. They have competed and performed internationally, and have 100% success rate for marriage proposals (she never says no)!

Confederates

"Save Your Confederate money, boys, the South shall rise again!" That song by The Confederates, 1956 International Champions, was to go down in history, and the quartet went on to become a true legend within the Society over the next 13 years. Organized at a Memphis Chapter party in September 1953. The Confederates were a popular quartet even before they won the championship. Composed of George Evans, tenor; Dave LeBonte, lead; Bill "Buz" Busby, bari; and Wally Singelton, bass; the foursome appeared in authentic looking Confederate officer uniforms, complete with dress swords, or as white-haired, frock-coated Southern "Colonels."

Confluence: Willamette Valley LGBT Chorus

Confluence is a diverse group of people who come together to celebrate and honor diversity through music. Our members live throughout the Willamette Valley, currently ranging from Eugene to Portland. Since 2000, we have been meeting every Sunday afternoon to rehearse and enjoy each other's company, growing from the original sixteen singers to our current fifty or so. Members put in many hours of rehearsal and practice time for each concert, with the goal of creating high-quality music without being stuffy.

As an LGBT chorus, we strive to celebrate and affirm the lives of gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgender individuals. The chorus is non-auditioned, meaning that anyone who can match pitch can sing with us. And you don't have to be part of the LGBT "alphabet" to participate - just be an ally who believes in our message and purpose. So consider becoming part of our Confluence family as a singer, a volunteer, or a financial supporter!

A hundred person chorus based at Calvary Baptist Church in Washington, DC. Our family of choruses includes the Northeast Senior Singers (NESS).

CONNECT

CONNECT is an award-winning professional a cappella group located in the Greater Hartford area of Connecticut. They are a mixed group of singers who wanted to continue sharing their love of music after attending school together at Central Connecticut State University. They combine lush harmonies, pure emotion, and clean riffs with a distinctly modern edge to bring you the sound of CONNECT.

Connecticut Chamber Choir

Dedicated to providing audiences and performers with opportunities to experience the world's fine choral works through inspired performance. Connecticut Chamber Choir has established itself as one of the region's premier vocal ensembles through performances of significant choral repertoire spanning the sixteenth through the twenty-first centuries.

Connecticut Choral Society

The Connecticut Choral Society, Inc. (CCS), established in 1980, is an ensemble of auditioned singers who are joined by their commitment to provide a music resource for Connecticut; to encourage singing and performing choral music of the highest artistic quality, and to stimulate greater appreciation and enjoyment of choral music.

Connecticut Early Music Society

Founded in 1982 by a group of early music devotees, the New London-based Connecticut Early Music Society presents an annual festival of between six and nine concerts each June. The term "early music" refers both to a repertory (European music written before about 1800, encompassing medieval, Renaissance, Baroque, and early Classical music) and to an approach to performance ("historically-informed performance," including the use of period instruments). Performers and scholars of early music seek to discover and present music from times past and to explore a repertory of music that is otherwise little known.

Connecticut Gay Men's Chorus

Founded in 1986, the Connecticut Gay Men's Chorus was the first organization of its kind in Connecticut and is a proud to be a part of LGBT history. The chorus continues to inspire other arts-based community organizations around New England. Under the leadership of Artistic Director Greg McMahan, the CTGMC is proud to maintain its high level of performance standards while maintaining its signature blend of humor and personality.

Connecticut Master Chorale

The Connecticut Master Chorale, founded and directed by Tina Johns Heidrich in 1999, is a premier ensemble of 55 professional-caliber vocalists with a precise blend and balance. We will present two performances this coming season. Our Holiday Prelude Concert will be accompanied by the Connecticut Master Chorale Holiday Brass, and our Spring Concert will be accompanied by the Connecticut Master Chorale Orchestra.

The Chorale is now in our 21st season and over the years we have experienced exciting moments and attained many honors. Our recordings are frequently heard on WMNR Fine Arts Radio in Connecticut, and we were recently featured on WJMJ in Hartford.

Our greatest accomplishment to date is having been invited to perform at the White House in December 2002 after the Chorale was selected through a recorded audition. We sang in the Book Signers Room and Grand Foyer for invited guests of the White House, including White House staff and dignitaries, friends and family of President and Mrs. Bush, cabinet members, and international leaders. We are extremely proud to have been granted this distinction

Connecticut Yankee Chorale

The Connecticut Yankee Chorale is a non-profit arts organization. In addition to patronage support, fundraising drives and ticket sales, membership dues are critical for covering our operating and performance expenses.

Connotations

The Connotations have been singing together in and around Northampton since 2008. Though original members have moved on and new members join to fill our harmonies, we have always stood by our one and only creed: Singing while having fun with friends makes the harmonies that much sweeter. The Connotations have had the honor of singing at multiple benefits, town fairs, hospitals, and festivals in Western Mass. A usual performance could include motown, pop, spirituals, and anything in between...but it will always include our desire to let people in on our secret: the only reason we have day jobs is because no one has signed us yet.

Consonare Youth Chorus

Consonare Choral Community is a nonprofit arts organization created to explore and cultivate a sense of consonance, collaboration, and community through singing together. "Consonance" is an accord or agreement. In music, "consonance" is combination of tones we find pleasing, creating a unity of sound. The word is derived from the Latin word "con-son-are" (to sound together).

Consonare is working to build and cultivate community, primarily for women and children, through inclusive choral music education and performance opportunities at minimal cost, as well as engage the public in quality, collaborative, creative, and affordable choral programming.

Consort Chorale

Consort Chorale co-founded in 1994 by Bob Friestad and Allan Robert Petker, is an audition-only group of select singers from the San Francisco Bay Area who are dedicated to the choral art form. Consort singers are committed to achieving choral excellence across a broad spectrum of musical eras and styles. Every summer since 1994, the group has gathered for a solid week of rehearsals, culminating in a standing-room-only concert of choral classics from the Baroque age to the modern era. This unique 'intensive' format provides an opportunity for singers to fine tune their skills while sharing their love of choral music through the ages.

Every three years since 2008 members of Consort Chorale have joined with singers from Allan's other chorales to form the Allan Petker Chorale and go on tour in Europe and South America.

Conspiracy of Beards

San Francisco's Conspiracy of Beards is a 30 member male choir started in 2003 that performs dynamic, original, a cappella arrangements of the poetic songs of Leonard Cohen.

Well dressed in suits, ties, and the occasional fedora, the choir brings an energized live choral music experience out of churches and tabernacles and into the taverns, art houses, and theaters of the Bay Area and beyond. Transforming Cohen's lyrics and simple melodies into complex 4- and 5-part harmonies, and with a wide variety of small ensemble and full choir pieces, Conspiracy of Beards achieves a sound that is both robust and tender. Drawing on influences ranging from jazz and gospel to barbershop and doo-wop, the unique arrangements that choir members create capture all of the emotion and humor of Leonard Cohen's original music and inspire audiences to ponder common human experiences like romance, heartbreak, politics, sex, longing, and spirituality.

Conspiracy of Venus

Conspiracy of Venus is a 30-woman vocal ensemble started in 2007 and based in San Francisco that explores the creative frontiers of music under the artistic direction of Joyce Todd McBride. We interpret Joyce's daring and inventive covers of beloved songs, ranging from popular classics (Joni Mitchell's "Big Yellow Taxi" and David Bowie's "Life On Mars") to edgy contemporary pieces (Bjork's "Possibly Maybe" and The Pixie's "Monkey Gone To Heaven), as well as the music of Tome Waits, Leonard Cohen, Stevie Wonder, and original compositions by McBride, with dazzling technical verve and tons of personality. Drawing inspiration from medieval music, jazz, funk, and new music, Conspiracy of Venus takes vocal music into territories not often explored by more traditional choirs or college-style a cappella groups (though we are inspired by them too!).
