For over 50 years, Valley Concert Chorale is the Tri-Valley's premier chorus. Under the direction of John Emory Bush, the Chorale offers a variety of musical performances to serve the diverse musical tastes of its audiences. This auditoned chorus is an all-volunteer, non-profit chorale that receives financial support from grants, ticket sales, membership dues, and donations.

Our Mission: To engage audiences in the transforming power of music by sharing our passion and joy in live performance. We are dedicated to excellence in singing choral music of all genres, nurturing the next generation of singers, and supporting musical endeavors in our Tri-Valley community.

The Chorale performs three concert sets each seaon, beginning with their annual holiday concerts, primarily in Pleasanton and Livermore, but have also performed in other Bay Area cities such as San Francisco, Fremont, Hayward and Walnut Creek. Over the years, the Chorale has performed many choral masterpieces such as Mozart's Requiem, Handel's Messiah, Mendelssohn's Elijah, Faure's Requiem, Brahms' Requiem and Orff's Carmina Burana. Other works include that of composers from all musical periods: Tallis, Purcell, Laurdisen, Whitacre, and Bernstein to name a few. But the Chorale also performs lighter music such as pop, folk and jazz.

It ranks as one of the top competitive choruses in the strong Far Western District. The ensemble typically performs three times per season accompanied by a professional jazz trio at Western Mass. jazz venues, First Night Northampton and senior residences. The group of 25 to 30 singers of all genders hail from up and down Western Massachusetts and even from Connecticut.

Valley Jazz Voices has generated great enthusiasm from audiences and the jazz community, as it fills an important need for jazz singers and audiences in the Western Mass. region.

Valley of the Moon Chamber Ensemble

The Valley of the Moon Chamber Ensemble (VOMCE) was conceived by the five "founding members" of the Ensemble (Brian Sebastian, Sheila Whitney, Shannon Howlett, Jerome Smith, and Greg Grabow) during an informal Christmas party at Brian's home in 2006. Over the course of the following year, the concept grew and singers were added, rounding out the Ensemble with eight voices - two on each part.

VOMCE gave its debut performance in December 2007, singing a Christmas concert at the Sonoma Valley Museum of Art as a benefit for the museum. It was a smashing success. Since then, the group has evolved, increasing its membership to 16 voices, deepening technical and artistic performances, and gaining notoriety in the community and a loyal and enthusiastic audience. With an embrace of 500 years of a capella classical choral repertoire, VOMCE has performed a holiday and a Spring program every year since. In July 2016 VOMCE continued to break new ground with its first-ever summer pop-up concert at Madrone Vineyard Estates in Glen Ellen. As with every concert since 2007, VOMCE donates the concert proceeds to local charitable arts programs through its collaboration with the Sonoma Community Center.

VOMCE has also been honored to perform privately, including for San Francisco's prestigious Francisca Club; the Sonoma Valley Fund at Rick and Renee Dellar's wine cave in 2010; and at a wedding mass at St. Francis Solano Roman Catholic Church in 2011. In May 2012 we were privileged to perform original choral works by our accompanist emeritus John Burke at the retrospective concert celebrating his achievements, at Trinity Episcopal Church. In 2014 and 2015 we were honored to perform for the Sonoma International Film Festival dinner. And at our 10th Spring concert we were honored to perform the world premier of Bradley Ellingboe's "The Reason For My Song".

We are comprised of singers from all over the greater Nashville community. Some are affiliated with Vanderbilt University, some are not. We all share a love of singing as well as a thirst for the choral experience that we enjoy in a group of this size and ability. Our programs are just as likely to showcase J.S. Bach as they are Stephen Sondheim, Jake Runestad or Moses Hogan.

We typically perform two or three concerts per season and members are auditioned by the director in August and sometimes at other times of the year. While we usually perform on campus, we embarked upon our first-ever European tour to Germany, Austria, and the Czech Republic in May of 2017 and plan to tour internationally on a regular basis.

Vasa Voices of Cleveland

We are a friendly mixed chorus who love our Scandinavian (primarily Swedish) heritage and enjoy celebrating our culture by singing together. Sweden has a rich tradition of choral singing that goes back many centuries. Our repertoire includes both contemporary and traditional Swedish choral music and folk songs, sacred as well as secular music. Most ot the songs we sing are in Swedish; some are in English and a few in Danish and Norwegian.

We welcome new singers, with or without Scandinavian background. We have no auditions, and you don't have to speak Swedish - we have several native Swedes who help us with pronunciation and translation. The Vasa Voices originated in the Nobel-Monitor Lodge #130 of the Vasa Order of America. Most of us are Lodge members, but you do not have to be a Lodge member to join the Vasa Voices.

We have two major events each year; a spring concert in May and a Lucia/Christmas concert in December. Both of these events are part of the programming of Nobel-Monitor Lodge. We also have participated at the Scandinavian Festival in Jamestown, New York, and local cultural events and international festivals.

Venice Chorale

The Venice Chorale's mission is to serve a regional audience by promoting the art of choral singing through vocal excellence and multi-generational education. Supporting chorale performance in the public schools has been part of our mission from the outset. The Apprentice Program, "Seniors Mentoring Juniors," was instituted in Exsultate's first season. Five students are chosen for the program each season. The program has benefitted dozens of students, many of whom have continued their music studies and work as musicians and teachers and many of whom have continued to sing in chorales and churches in places where their lives have taken them.

We extended our outreach to young musicians by establishing the Youth Chorus in the 2013-14 season. 25-30 students from grades 4th-8th participate and perform in each of the three performances of the season.

The Mayor of Venice designated Exsultate! as the Chorale of Venice a decade ago. Since then, our organization has expanded beyond the concert choir to include the chamber and youth choirs as well as the apprentice program, and we have become the resident chorale of the Venice Performing Arts Center. We have developed working partnerships with the Venice Symphony and the Venice Concert Band, providing the opportunity to broaden our audience and spread the love of song and the joy of singing to more and more people in the Venice region. The Venice Chorale looks forward to continuing for many years to come!

Venice Gondoliers

We are the Venice Gondoliers, the local chapter of the Society for the Preservation and Education of Barbershop Quartet Singing of America (S.P.E.B.S.Q.S.A. now known as the Barbershop Harmony Society.)

We sing for fun and fellowship and share our music with Civic Clubs, Schools, Retirement Centers and a variety of Community groups. We dress up in our best Barbershop finery for our Annual show, held each March, where you might find us performing Broadway show songs, traditional Barbershop tunes, sacred hymns or rousing patriotic anthems.

We are a nonprofit organization which sends performance proceeds to the Barbershop Harmony Society in Nashville, which distributes such proceeds to Music Programs, Scholarships and Cultural groups. Currently there are twenty six of us, women and men, who sing with the Venice Gondoliers.

If you like to sing and if you would like to share in the fun and excitement of barbershop harmony, then why not visit one of our rehearsals? All you need to be a Venice Gondolier is an interest in singing and harmony. Our music programs teach you basic music reading skills and vocal techniques.
