Whether sung arond a campfire, in a classroom, or on a family road trip, call-and-response songs, in which a leader sings a phrase and a group sings back a reply, are a wonderful interactive experience for kids!

When the 15-man strong Tufts University a cappella group Beelzebubs was formed in 1962, Beelzebub was a character from Milton's "Paradise Lost" who lived in Pandaemonium, who caught the attention of a Tufts senior. The group became one of Tufts' oldest traditions. " Pandaemonium" was recorded by the 2007 configuration of the Bubs, and it features 13 varied and well-chosen covers of pop hits. The Beatles' "Magical Mystery Tour," U2's "City of Blinding Lights," Deadeye Dick's "New Age Girl," The Feeling's "Love It When You Call," Thicke's "When I Get You Alone," Aerosmith's classic "Livin' On The Edge," Peter Gabriel's "Digging In The Dirt," Gnarls Barkley's "Smiley Faces" and Guster's "Ruby Falls" all feature wonderful arrangements, tight vocal harmonies and backup vocals, and powerful, soaring leads. Good stuff from one of our favorite veteran Collegiate ensembles!

This is the second CD by the eight young men of the Contemporary group Octappella, and it includes some very impressive original material written by group members, notably "The Voice," "Awe," "When I First Saw You" and "With A Friend," and some wonderful covers, like Kurt Bestor's "Prayer of the Children," "Baldhemian Rhapsody," after Freddie Mercury, Michael Jackson's "I Want You Back" and U2's "MLK." Also beautifully done are "Man in Motion," "In My Dreams" and "Standing Outside the Fire." Excellent vocal percussion, smooth, rich harmonies and what we can only refer to as a depth of feeling, make this CD impressive on many levels, and we can say that it is one of the best Contemporary CDs we've heard this year. Octappella is in"Motion!"
