Deke Sharon : Contemporary Pop Hits

The Van Morrison classic "Brown Eyed Girl" is accessible for newly formed a cappella groups, and satisfying for more experienced ensembles. The modern day classic "True Colors" has been a huge hit for both Cyndi Lauper and Phil Collins. Now it's your turn! "Be True To Your School" is perfect for pep rallies, sporting events and school assemblies, the breakdown in this arrangement gives your singers a chance to get everyone in the bleachers chanting and clapping along. Rah Rah Sis Boom Bah! The little gem "Autumn Leaves" is perfect for your fall concert. Lush rubato chords roll through most of the song, but the bridge is a snappy up tempo wake-up call. "Superman (It's Not Easy)" - At last, a song for your mixed ensemble that wants to sing 21st century music in the college a cappella style! This ballad by Five For Fighting features a high, light tenor solo singing about that common young adult sentiment, "it's not easy to be me." First performed by The Persuasions and popularized by The Nylons, "Good Old A Cappella"``` is an a cappella classic!

Deke Sharon : Men's Pop Hits Vol. 2 : TTBB : Sheet Music

Deke Sharon : Men's Pop Hits Vol. 2

Sting's poignant song, 'Fragile,' expresses our vulnerability, and this sensitive arrangement will touch the hearts of singers and audiences alike. Written in the collegiate a cappella style but accessible to solid high school groups, this tune is timeless. 'Breakfast at TIffany's' is a perennial favorite of student a cappella groups since one-hit wonder Deep Blue Something charted in the 90s, this upbeat tune is finally available in published form. 'Brown Eyed Girl,' a Van Morrison classic is accessible for newly formed a cappella groups, and satisfying for more experienced ensembles. Popularized by Nat King Cole, the Great American Songbook tune, 'Orange Colored Sky,' provides an upbeat vehicle for either a baritone or alto soloist. If your singers are clamoring for an upbeat pop tune from this century, you can't go wrong with Maroon 5's megahit "This Love." Arranged in the collegiate a cappella style but not too difficult for high school groups.

Boyz Nite Out : American Vinyl : 00 1 CD

Boyz Nite Out : American Vinyl

Sacramento, CA-based all-male sextet BNO first got together in a 4-bedroom house 8 years ago, and discovered the kind of chemistry that you find in the bigtime, big city groups. "Vinyl" is their third CD, after the excellent "Rho Sham Bo" and "Director's Cut." 17 songs, from the Spencer Davis Group's "Gimme Some Lovin'," "Fire" and "Come Go with Me" to remarkable vocal percussion on Lennon/McCartney's "Come Together" and on the Drifters' "Under The Boardwalk," this is great stuff. "Brown-Eyed Girl," "Footloose," "The Still Of The Night," the Righteous Bros' "My Girl," the Motown hit "Grapevine," the Doors' "People Are Strange"--the hits just keep on coming. What we love about BNO, besides their song selection, is a) their energy, spirit and love of the music, b) their great arrangements and vocal percussion, c) they're spot on key, and d) they nail every song, as you absolutely know they do in a live performance. Great stuff!

Songlist: Soundtrack (Takin' You Back), Gimme Some Lovin', Fire, Come and Go With Me, Come Together, Under the Boardwalk, Brown Eyed Girl, Only You, Footloose, Change The World, Still of the Night, Hooch, My Girl, With Or Without You, Grapevine, The People Are Strange, The Lion Sleeps Tonight

Princeton Tigertones : Old No. 27 : 00 1 CD

Princeton Tigertones : Old No. 27

The 12 young men who form the '01-'02 version of the Princeton Tigertones are members of more than a great vocal group. It is said that The Tigertones, a tradition at Princeton going back 56 years (a great pic of the '46-'47 version is in the liner notes), have broader appeal than any other boy-band in the world. The Tones have wowed elderly audiences in Palm Beach, teenage schoolgirls in Switzerland, and have performed on the stages of Carnegie Hall and Lincoln Center. This is their 27th biennial album, hence "Old No. 27." There are 18 songs, which reflect their rich heritage. Some of our favorites: Stevie Wonder's "Superstition," Sam the Sham & The Pharoahs' "Little Red Riding Hood," "The Orange Moon," the wonderful reggae tune "Kiss Da Girl," "Runaround Sue," CSNY's "Our House," "Steppin' to the Bad Side," Simon & Garfunkel's "Scarborough Fair," "Shower the People," and "When Sunny Gets Blue," recorded live. The Tones are having total fun recording "Old No. 27," performing live, or just doing great harmony with their buds, and that's what it's all about!

Songlist: Superstition, Little Red Riding Hood, The Orange Moon, Kiss Da Girl, Shall We Gather By the River, Ring Ring the Banjo, That Cat is High, Runaround Sue, Romeo and Juliet, Brown Eyed Girl, Our House, Smile, Steppin' to the Bad Side, Scarborough Fair, The Long and Winding Road, Sing Me to Heaven, Shower the People, When Sunny Gets Blue

Reunion : Street Corner Singers

Three-time UGHA winners Reunion - no other group has had that distinction - have been singing together in various incarnations since the 1960's. They also competed in and won the 'Acappella Showdown' in 1990 and 1991. This experience has resulted in a smooth fluid sound and crisp delivery; they avoid harshness. Their strong suit is the roundness and fullness of their tone. Their set list comprises the contemporary - Otis Redding's 'Drift Away' or Van Morrison's 'Brown Eyed Girl' - and the classic: the plaintive 'I Believe' and uptempo 'Where Are You Tonight?'

Songlist: Where Are You Tonight?, Wonderful Tonight, Lean On Me, I Believe, Heart of Saturday Night, At This Moment, Cool Change, That's My Desire, Drift Away, What's Your Name?, Brown Eyed Girl, Tears In Heaven, The Boys Are Back In Town, The Sun, Bring Me Li'l Water Silvy, It's Growing, Buffalo Soldier, Lookin' For An Echo

Standards : The Standards Collection : 00 1 CD

Standards : The Standards Collection

We've been big fans of the Standards, five sweet-singing brothers from Idaho, twice when they nearly won the Harmony Sweepstakes Finals, and then there were their four excellent CDs. "Collection" is a sometimes accompanied, 16-song best-of album that may be better described as a "tour de force" album. Our favorites are of course the a cappella cuts, "I Got A Feelin'," "Put a Little Love in Your Heart," a kickin' vocal percussion arrangement of Van Morrison's "Brown Eyed Girl," a dreamy, soaring "In Absence," wonderful vocal "horns" on the Mamas and the Papas' hit "California Dreamin'," the rhythmic, powerful "I Can't Break Away," and live covers of Bill Withers' "Lean On Me," "Put a Little Love in Your Heart," the Motown hit "Just My Imagination," "Brown Eyed Girl," Smoky Robinson's hit "My Girl," the Doo-Wop anthem "The Lion Sleeps Tonight" and the jazzy, surprising "Single Grain of Sand." These last seven tunes remind us of why we loved The Standards, one of the best live shows in the business, wonderful harmonies, strong vocal percussion, leads to die for. "Collection" is big fun, don't miss it!

Songlist: Give Me Some More, I'm In A Hurry, I Got A Feelin', Dance of the Mamba, Put A Little Love in Your Heart, Brown Eyed Girl, In Absence, California Dreaming, I Can't Break Away, Lean On Me, Put A Little Love in Your Heart (Live), Just My Imagination, My Girl, Lion Sleeps Tonight, Single Grain of Sand

T Minus 5 : Alive : 00 1 CD

T Minus 5 : Alive

The five young men of T Minus 5 got their first glimpse of fame in spring, 2000 in Ogden, Utah, winning a Weber State U. talent show. Having only been a group for one year, they entered and won the 2001 Harmony Sweepstakes Denver Regional against tough competition and went on to win "Audience Favorite" at the Finals in San Rafael. They have been on a performing rampage ever since, their energy and humor winning them new fans wherever they go. There are 16 live cuts on "Alive," some favorites: "Red Neck Avenger" (which wowed the crowd at the '01 Finals), Van Morrison's "Brown Eyed Girl," Paul Simon's "Cecilia," Bono's "All I Want," Sly Stone's "Dance to the Music," Ben E. King's "Stand By Me," "Best Years of Our Lives," "Lean On Me" and "Down to the River to Pray." T Minus 5's forte is live performance-just listen to the audience response on "Alive." Great stuff!

Songlist: Sold, Wrapped Up in You, Brown Eyed Girl, Cecilia, Folk Song Medley, All I Want, Dance to the Music, Red Neck Avenger, I Feel Good, Amen Revival, Krispy Kreme, American Woman, Stand By Me, Best Years of Our Lives, Lean on Me, Down to the River to Pray

Tonic Sol-fa : By Request : 00 1 CD

Tonic Sol-fa : By Request    onsale

One of our favorite Contemporary groups, Greg, Shaun, Mark and Jared have been coming up with great CDs since 1996's "Left Turns"-particularly fine are 1997's Christmas album, "Carol," 2001's "Style," 2002's "Sugarue" and 2003's "Red Vinyl." We look at "By Request" as yet another showpiece of why Tonic is one of the most dynamic a cappella groups in the world, and why they need to be recognized as major stars! The 10-song songlist in the liner notes is presented as a Top 40 Radio Requests list, with five new songs, "Chances," Chips' "At The Dark End of the Street," "Until Forever's Gone," Josh Turner's "Long Black Train," and Willie Dixon's smoking "29 Ways to My Baby's Door." The guys simply nail "29," one of the best songs we've heard this year. The other five, Simon & Garfunkle's "Cecelia," Van Morrison's "Brown Eyed Girl," the manic country hit "Sold," Marty Robbins' western classic "El Paso," and "Scooby Doo, Where Are You?" have appeared on other CDs, but they are well-chosen hits, surely some of group's best stuff. Top-drawer arrangements, and a depth of sound amazing for a quartet-"By Request" is another impressive winner for Tonic Sol-Fa!

Songlist: 29 Ways to My Baby's Door, Cecilia, Brown Eyed Girl, Chances, At the Dark End of the Street, Sold (The Grundy County Auction Incident), El Paso, Until Forever's Gone, Scooby Doo, Where Are You? (remix), Long Black Train

Voice Male : Six : 00 1 CD : 4379800

Voice Male : Six

The contemporary group Voice Male is Richard McAllister, tenor, Mike Bearden, tenor, John Huff, Baritone, Phil Kesler, baritone, Mike Willson, bass and John Luthy, vocal percussion and bass. "6" refers to the fact that this is their 6th CD, and probably also to the 6 years that these very talented men have been singing and performing together. We think this will be a breakthrough CD for them, for "6" is a joy from start to finish! Comparisons with Rockapella, the House Jacks and the Beach Boys come to mind as VM hands us one powerful cover after another, held together by John's rock-solid vocal percussion. Much of the excellent arranging is by group members, and the guys take turns singing lead, showing off their vocal talents. 14 well-chosen songs here: a fun "Brown Eyed Girl," "A Million Ways," U2's "Pride" (In the Name of Love), "It's so Hard to Say Goodbye to Yesterday," "My Maria," "The Shadow of Your Smile," great vocal "horns" on "The Lion Sleeps Tonight," "Sam, You Made the Pants Too Long," James Taylor's "That Lonesome Road" and "Sun on the Moon," "In The Still of the Night," "Loch Lomond," "Breakfast at Tiffany's" and "Celebration." Fun stuff-highly recommended!

Standards : Give Me Some More

It's great for us to cue up "Give Me Some More," and once again be blown away by the live show of Quinn, Nicholas, Nathan, Morgan and Jordan, the brothers from Idaho who twice nearly won the Harmony Sweepstakes Finals. Not only can we sit in with the lucky, up-close Nashville audience, but we get to sit down with the guys after a song and hear them talk about their creative process, how they came to choose, arrange or write a song, and see how passionate they feel about their music. The Standards' live show has only grown more entertaining and polished from their years of touring and live concerts. There are nine cuts here, all a cappella, and all of them energetically choreographed. Our favorites are the intro title tune "Give Me Some More," "Put a Little Love in Your Heart," a rockin', sing-along arrangement of Van Morrison's "Brown Eyed Girl," a sweet cover of Bill Withers' "Lean On Me," a very fun, audience-participation cover of the Motown hit "Just My Imagination," Smoky Robinson's anthem "My Girl," the high-energy country rocker "I Got a Feelin'," a totally jungle arrangement of the Doo-Wop anthem "The Lion Sleeps Tonight," the jazzy, surprising "Single Grain of Sand" and closing with a surprising group-written and choreographed original, "Dance of the Mamba" with black lights and day-glow costumes that will knock your socks off! Wait a minute, we picked every song-this reminds us of why we love The Standards, one of the most fun live shows in the business, wonderful harmonies, strong vocal percussion, top-drawer leads, cool choreography. "Give Us Some More!"
