Sweet Adelines Recordings

The women may not have been singing barbershop as long as the men, but they've definitely made the art form their own. They push the limits, they ring the chords, they deliver tags that hang in the air so long you'd think they've grown wings. Barbershop may have its roots in American music, but there are terrific Sweet Adelines quartets and choruses all over the world, and we carry many of their albums. If you haven't discovered women's barbershop yet, what are you waiting for?

MAXX Factor : MAXX Factor out of print

Review: "Once in awhile a group arises that both destroys the preconception of a genre while coming to define it for the public. MAXX Factor is such a group." - Deke Sharon. High praise indeed from the guru of contemporary a cappella and very well deserved. The only group to ever win both the Harmony Sweepstakes A Cappella Festival and the Sweet Adeline national competitions the quartet has some of the tightest harmonies you will hear anywhere. This is a recording you will listen to over and over.

Songlist: Cry Baby, Goodbye Yellow Brick Road, Sandbox of Dreams, Little Patch of Heaven, When You Wish Upon a Star, Grow Old With Me, Liar Medley, Love Story, Come In From The Rain, What A Wonderful World, Hey There, All the Way, Brand New Day, Star-Spangled Banner

MAXX Factor : Maxx Sixx Pack

Review: Baltimore, MD-based quartet Maxx Factor is on a major roll, being named the 2009 Harmony Sweeps National Champs in May, then going on to win the 2010 Third Place Sweet Adelines medals! Formed in 2004, this current foursome has only been singing together since 2007. "Maxx Sixx Pack" is a sampler EP that features six tunes, "It's a Brand New Day," a live cut from International competition "Listen To That Dixie Band," "Don't Break The Heart That Loves You," the live cut "Young And Foolish," "The Loneliest Girl In Town" and "What A Wonderful World." This is all great Sweet Adelines stuff on the highest level. As we recommend this recording, we remember listening to Maxx Factor's set at the Harmony Sweeps Finals. As they would nail one of their trademark unbelieveably sustained closing chords, we swear we would feel the hairs on the back of our neck stand up! Maxx Factor is a very special group, and you should forget about drinking and treat yourself to a Sixx Pack.

Songlist: The Lonesomest Girl in Town, Listen to That Dixie Band, Young and Foolish, What A Wonderful World, It's A Brand New Day, Don't Break the Heart that Loves You

Here and Now

Melodeers : Circle of Fifths

Review: Northbrook, IL's veteran Melodeers Chorus has been the picture of Sweet Adelines consistency, having captured International Chorus Gold in 1995, 1998, 2001, 2004 and, in the fall of 1998 in Honolulu, 2008! Musical Director Jim Arns has contributed his superb arranging, teaching and direction skills to each of these wins, and the Chorus could not be more proud to call him their own. "Circle of Fifths" is a generous helping of Melodeers, 18 sumptuous cuts, including three live recordings, "Time After Time" and "Love Letters Straight From Your Heart," recorded live on the Internationals stage in Honolulu, and "Let Me Call You Sweetheart," recorded live at Las Vegas Arena. Other favorites are "Here and Now," "Sailin' Down the Chesapeake Bay," "Ring Out The Bells in Dixieland/Cross The Mason Dixon Line Medley," "Elmer's Tune," "Wonderful Day Medley," four very funny "Music Theory Geek Parodies Set to the music from the Nutcracker Suite," "The Winner's Song," and "We are Family." Every cut here is beautifully crafted, entertaining and sung with passion and spirit by one of Sweet Adelines' great choruses. "Circle of Fifths" is a stone winner!

Songlist: Here and Now, Sailin' Down the Chesapeake Bay, Why Did I Choose You?, I Wanna Be Around, Time After Time, Ring Out the Bells in Dixieland/ 'Cross the Mason Dixon Line Medley, Elmer's Tune, Let Me Call You Sweetheart, I Told Them All About You/ You Dear Medley, Wonderful Day Medley, Love Letters Straight From Your Heart, Music Theory Lesson on the Circle of 5ths, Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairies, Waltz of the Flowers, Dance of the Reeds, Russian Dance, The Winner's Song, We are Family

Melodeers : It's a Wrap

Review: Since their formation in 1960, the Melodeers, a 125-member Sweet Adelines Chorus, have won the International Championship twice in succession (1997, 1998). Their energetic and vivacious style must also be credited to their redoubtable director, Jim Arns, who also wrote some of the arrangements. "Do You Hear What I Hear?" offers every imaginable variation (echo, contrast motion, swipes, modulation) of the familiar refrain, and sets up the grand finale with a turnaround, pushing the phrasing to make room for a zestful seventh chord and another key change. "Psalm 98/Shalom" begins on a long open note, gradually converging to the dominant; the subsequent section is a rapid fire allegro, broken by a repetitive adagio two-part interlude. Sound unconventional? It is. "Silent Night," "The Christmas Song" and "Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas" are among the many traditionals. The Chorus lets loose on "Jingle Bell Rock" and "Grandma Got Run Over By A Reindeer."

Songlist: Jingle Bell Rock, Silent Night, The Christmas Song, Rudolph The Red Nosed Reindeer/ Grandma Got Run Over By A Reindeer Medley, Coventry Carol, A Holly Jolly Christmas, Do You hear What I Hear?, Carol Of The Bells, Psalm 98/ Shalom, The Christmas Song, It Came Upon A Midnight Clear, Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas, Christmas Chopstix, Jingle Bells, Hallelujah Chorus

Melodeers : Melodeers Magic

Review: Formed in 1960, the 125-strong Sweet Adelines chorus the Melodeers have been named International Champions three times. Director Jim Arns did more than half of the arrangements on the CD, and he gets a lot of credit for the group's energetic and vivacious style. There are 12 songs here: "We'll Sing All We Know Tonight," "My Honey's Lovin' Arms," "The Churchbells are Ringing For Mary," "Let Freedom Ring," "Rocky Top," "The Chicago Medley," "It's Your Song," the very funny "I Wanna Come Back As A Man," "Fever," "Hooked On A Feeling" and "The Seventies Medley" ("I Got You Babe," "Stayin' Alive" and "YMCA") plus a pair of live tracks recorded at the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando, "Floatin' Down to Cotton Town" and "Oh How I Miss You Tonight." These women sing like there's no tomorrow, and that's what makes the Magic!

Songlist: We'll Sing All We Know Tonight, My Honey's Lovin' Around, The Churchbells Are Ringing For Mary, Let Freedom Ring, Rocky Top, The Chicago Medley, It's Your Song, I Wanna Come Back as A Man, Fever, Big Hair, Hooked On A Feeling, The Seventies Medley, Floatin' Down To Cotton Town, Oh How I Miss You Tonight

Melodeers : Mission Accomplished

Review: The current Sweet Adelines Chorus Champions, the Melodeers, directed by Jim Arns, have crafted a proficient recording of Sweet Adelines classics, standards and even the "Hallelujah Chorus." "The Auctioneer's Song" is a lively and comic tongue-twister; the understated introduction of "I Remember You" soon gives way to a brisk swing feel, while "Orange Colored Sky" practically gallops to the finish line. "Mamma Goes Where Papa Goes" features dramatic pitch deceleration in its opening verse-an attention-getting device used effectively here. The racuous "Blues Bros. Medley" (recorded live, as were several of the tracks) red-lines it throughout-The Melodeers have energy to spare and constitutions that thrive on very little oxygen! "Mission Accomplished" indeed!

Songlist: Floatin' Down to Cotton Town, Forgive Me, For Sentimental Reasons, The Auctioneer Song, You're the Spirit of Sweet Adelines, I Remember You, Orange Colored Sky, Mamma Goes Where Papa Goes, You Keep Coming Back Like a Song, Hallelujah Chorus, You Made Me Love You, Blues Brothers Medley

Mission Valley Chorus : Home For The Holidays

Review: A nice assortment of Christmas songs from this Sweet Adelines chorus, who medaled at last year's international competition, under the direction of Shirley Kout. The group, who was founded in 1958, offers a nice barbershop rendition "Good King Wenceslas"; they toy with the familiar refrain and resolve it in an unexpected way. Other songs include "I Saw Mommy Kissing Santa Claus," "Dormi, Dormi" and "Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas."

Songlist: Friends, Jingle Bells, I Saw Mommy Kissing Santa Claus, Good King Wenceslas, God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen, Dormi Dormi, Silent Night, Oh Holy Night, Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas, I'll Be Home For Christmas/ White Christmas Medley, Carol Of The Bells, Secret Of Christmas, Love In Any Language

Moxie Ladies : Moxie Ladies

Review: Beautiful, blonde Stacey, Jennifer, Gretchen and Amy, Moxie Ladies (we love that name!), won the Gold at the Sweet Adelines International Quartet Championship for 2009 in November 2008 in Honolulu Hawaii against very strong competition. This is their first album of 10 songs, which one critic described as "fun, fresh and exciting," and we can only add, "sweet harmonies, strong leads and ringing chords that make the hairs on the back of our neck stand up!" Some favorites are Barbershop standards "Top of the World," a live cut, "I Can't Give You Anything But Love/L-O-V-E Medley;" Hanley & Buck's "My Man," Paul Simon's "59th Street Bridge Song," and Delugg & Stein's "Orange-Colored Sky. We also loved Jim Connor's "Grandma's Feather Bed" and Dottie Rambo's "When I Lift Up My Head." This is great entertainment by one of Sweet Adelines' finest quartets!

Songlist: Top of the World, Birth of the Blues, I Can't Give You Anything But Love/L-O-V-E Medley, It's You, Grandma's Feather Bed, My Man, Midnight Seranade, Feelin' Groovy (The 59th Street Bridge Song), Orange Colored Sky, When I Lift Up My Head

Razzcals : Now Appearing

Review: A product of Sweet Adelines' reaching out to young women singers, Sacramento, CA-based Razzcals first began singing together in 1995, in their teens and early 20s. In Sweet Adelines international competition they immediately began making their mark, placing 21st, 15th, 7th, 4th (four times in a row), 2nd and 4th. "Now Appearing," the group's second, is a polished, entertaining collection of 12 songs: "When the Midnight Choo-Choo Leaves for Alabam'," "Keepin' Out of Mischief Now," "You're Nobody Till Somebody Loves You," "Come Rain or Come Shine," "Shangri La," "Love Medley," "Jenny Rebecca," "There Goes My Heart," "The Boy From Ipanema" and the saucy "Hey, Good Lookin'" are particular favorites. Although they have yet to win the #1 ranking, Razzcals are focused and determined, and we fully expect to wake up the morning after the Finals to the four Razzcalls wearing that beautiful Sweet Adelines International Quartet Gold around their necks!

Songlist: When The Midnight Choo-choo Leaves For Alabam', Keepin' Out Mischeif Now, You're Nobody Till Somebody Loves You, Come Rain or Come Shine, Happy Together, Shangri-La, Love Medley, Jenny Rebecca, There Goes My Heart, The Boy From Ipanema, Tears For Souvenirs, Hey, Good Lookin'

Rhythmix : What A Ride!

Review: Coppell, TX-based Rhythmix is a multiple Sweet Adelines regional-winning champion and internationally ranked barbershop quartet, and "What A Ride" is their second CD release, the first being 1999's "En Route." 11 finely-crafted standards like "This Is Some Lucky Day," Ella Fitzgerald's "A Tisket A Tasket," "I Didn't Want to Fall," and "Yes, Indeed" and romantic heart-tuggers like Gershwin's "They Can't Take That Away From Me," "Their Hearts Were Full Of Spring," "If You Love Me, Really Love Me" and "Why Did I Choose You." The four finish strong with a jazzy, incongruous "Santa Claus is Comin' to Town" and a tongue-in-cheek, drama-ridden "High Heel Blues."

Songlist: This Is Some Lucky Day, In The Wee Small Hours, They Can't Take That Away From Me, Their Hearts Were Full Of Spring, A Tisket A Tasket, If You Love Me, Really Love Me, I Didn't Want to Fall, Why Did I Choose You, Yes Indeed, Santa Claus Is Comin' To Town, High Heel Blues

Rich-Tone Chorus : What Happens in Vegas

Review: Pride of Richardson, TX, 4-time International Champion The Richtones Chorus, directed by Dale Syverson and Ruth Ann Parker, bring us a finely-crafted, beautifully harmonic collection of 13 songs. Some favorites are "Yes Sir, That's My Baby," "Berkeley Square," "You're Nobody's Sweetheart Medley," "I'm Alone Because I Love You," Engelbert Humperdinck's "Evening Prayer," "Strike Up the Band/I've Got Rhythm" and "Man of La Mancha/Malaguena." Maureen McGovern, whose late father James was a barbershopper in his younger days, and from the age of 5 she used to sing parts with him and his quartet. She joins the chorus beautifully on Johnny Mercer/Hoagy Carmichael's classic "Skylark" and the Gershwins' "Our Love is Here to Stay." Powerful, moving and entertaining material from one of the best Sweet Adelines choruses!

Songlist: Yes Sir, That's My Baby, Berkeley Square, Anthem, Go, Tell it on the Mountain, New Attitude, You're Nobody's Sweetheart Medley, I'm Alone Because I Love You, Evening Prayer, Strike Up The Band/ I've Got Rhythm, America, The Beautiful, Skylark, Man Of La Mancha/ Malaguena, Our Love Is Here To Stay

Rich-Tone Chorus : Wrapped Up In The Holidays

Review: The Rich-Tone Chorus are no strangers to awards ceremonies at Sweet Adelines' International Chorus competitions, winning the gold in 1992, 1996 and 1999. "Wrapped" is a generous Christmas album, featuring three original tunes by Chorus members, "You're All I Want For Christmas," "Hush Little Children, Do," and "Christmas Shopping Blues." Included are guest appearances by Rumors, Rhythmix, Kindred Spirits, The Gina Williams Trio and The Texas Girl Choir. There are 16 tunes, familiar songs like "Sing We Noel," "Patapan," "Happy Holidays," "Santa Claus Is Comin' To Town," "God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen," "Feast of Lights," "Joy to the World" and "Auld Lang Syne," And lesser known ones like "Old Man's Back In Town," "Jingle Bell Jazz," "Mary Did You Know," "One Small Child" and the hilarious (if in questionable taste) "Pretty Dolly." There's a nice variety in the mix of the powerful chorus, the smaller quartets and soloists here. Some light accompaniment on a few cuts.

Songlist: Sing We Noel, Patapan, You're All I Want for Christmas, Happy Holidays / Holiday Season, Hush Little Children, Do, Santa Claus Is Comin' to Town, Old Man's Back In Town, Pretty Dolly, Jingle Bell Jazz, Christmas Shoppin' Blues, God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen, Auld Lang Syne, Feast of Lights, Joy to the World, Mary, Did You Know?, One Small Child

Rich-Tones and Opus IV : A"live" and Swinging

Review: The CD opens by announcing, "it's Saturday night in New York City, at the world famous Rainbow Room." It's actually recorded in Texas, but the mood is set for this program of songs, featuring the award-winning women's chorus from Dallas, the Rich-Tones, as well as the saxophone quartet Opus Four, and a 3 piece combo fronted by Brian Beck on bass guitar. That said, this CD is a smorgasbord of styles, from Dixieland ("That's A Plenty," and "Back Home Again In Indiana," Opus IV) to Tracy Chapman's "Give Me One Good Reason," featuring a solo vocal, guitar, plus the trio. The common element is entertainment with elegance. Soloist Pam Lauffer expresses it best on "Corner of Heaven," a languid pour of retro come yonder. Practically all accompanied and a lot of fun.

Songlist: Opus One/Stompin' At the Savoy, Star Wars Cantina, A Foggy Day (In London Town), Someone That I Used To Love, That's A' Plenty, Give Me One Reason, Kiss Her Goodbye, Corner Of Heaven, Tiger Rag, Back Home Again In Indiana, String Of Pearls, Sing, You Sinners, Star Wars Cantina (reprise)

Rumors : Caught In The Act out of print

Review: Rumors burst onto the scene in 1997, stealing the show at the Sweet Adelines International Competition. Many in the audience thought they had won, until it was discovered they had gone over their time limit by 18 seconds-just enough to bump them from first place. The next year, conspicuously wearing watches, Rumors was crowned the Best Quartet in the World, 1999 International Champions. The phenomenon that is Rumors has given us two excellent CDs before "Caught," 1997's "Confirmed" and 1999's "Rumors are Flying!" all performed with their trademark class, style and humor. Twelve songs: "It's Sandman" recalls the Andrews Sisters in their prime, a smooth and sweet "When I Fall In Love," "This Masquerade," a toe-tapping "All Bound Round," the lovely "Wishing You Were Somehow Here Again," the hilarious "Pretty Little Dolly" (who can do much more than just talk), "Back In The Old Routine," "Ability To Swing," "I Know Him So Well (from "Chess"), You'll Never Know, John Fogerty's "Proud Mary" and a helping of consummate comedienne Dale Syverson's humor, "Cats." The audience is alternately in applause, awe and stitches as the Best Quartet in the World blows them, and us, away. Marvelous!

Songlist: It's Sandman, When I Fall In Love, This Masquerade, All Bound Round, Wishing You Were Somehow Here Again, The Pretty Little Dolly, Back In The Old Routine, Ability To Swing, I Know Him So Well, You'll Never Know, Proud Mary, Cats

Rumors : Something To Talk About

Review: The four talented women of Rumors had been singing together for five years when they were named 1999 International Sweet Adelines Quartet Champions. Since then Charla, Judy, Dale and Peggy have honed and perfected their audience-pleasing a cappella style, and sublime arrangements by premier arranger Anna-Maria Nystrom have added a new dimension to their recordings and live performances. "Something," the group's 4th excellent CD has 12 songs, some favorites are: the Motown classic "Ain't No Sunshine," "Aubrey" (featuring soloist Steve DeCrow), "When She Loved Me" from Toy Story 2, "God Only Knows," Carole King's "I Feel The Earth Move," Sting's marvelous hit "Fields of Gold,"Ê the title tune and Harold Arlen and CY Harburg's "Over the Rainbow." "Something" is a winner from Sweet Adelines Champions who have continued to reach for, and achieve, new levels of musical artistry.

San Diego Chorus : In The San Diego Style

Review: The 148-strong (if our math is right) San Diego Chorus cooks up some classic Sweet Adelines music here, ably accompanied by 2001 International Quartet Champions a cappella Gold (on "If You Love Me, Really Love Me"), and Quartet medalists Fanatix (on "I've Got the World On A String"). These women know how to belt them out, and our emotions are wonderfully tugged in many directions. We have the rousing and foot-stomping: ("South Rampart Street Parade," "It's A Great Day for the Irish," "Alexander's Ragtime Band," and "Rockabye Your Baby With A Dixie Melody." And there's the sweet and sentimental: "I've Got the World on a String," "If You Love Me, Really Love Me, and "How Do You Keep The Music Playing." Finally we have the Gospel/Christian: "Go Tell It On The Mountain," "Sweet Hour of Prayer," and the closing Gospel Medley-"How Great Thou Art." Inspiring, uplifting, tug-on-your-heartstrings stuff, beautifully performed!

Songlist: South Rampart Street Parade, Lullabye In Ragtime, That Tumbled Down Shack In Athlone, Irish Medley, I've Got the Whole World On A String, Rock-a-bye Your Baby With A Dixie Melody, I'll Be Seeing You, How Do You Keep the Music Playing, Alexander's Band Medley, If You Love Me, Really Love Me, Go, Tell it on the Mountain, Sweet Hour of Prayer, Gospel Medley

San Diego Chorus : Merry & Bright

Review: Kim Hulbert has led the 100 singers of the veteran San Diego Chorus (celebrating 53 years of excellence in San Diego), for the last 20 years to a tremendous record of Sweet Adelines success, 7 Regional Championships, and Gold, Bronze and 2 Silver medals in International competition. "Merry and Bright" is a particularly warm and wonderful Christmas collection of 12 songs. It's actually more than that if we include one of our favorites, the 3-song, nicely-narrated "Grinch Medley," which celebrates Dr. Suess' timeless Christmas classic. Other favorites are Harold Stanley's jazzy "The Man with the Bag," a raucous, feisty "Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer," a heart-tugging "That's What I Want for Christmas," "Baby It's Cold Outside" (sung with guest chorus Pacific Coast Highway), a romantic "Merry Christmas Darling," "Christmas Eve, Sarajevo 12/24" (which we assume was performed by the SDC in that war-torn city) and David Axelrod's "Keep Christmas with You." We think you'll love "Merry and Bright," brought to us courtesy of one of Sweet Adelines' best and most entertaining choruses!

Songlist: Happy Holiday, Here Comes Santa Claus, Grinch Melody, My Christmas Wish For You, The Man With The Bag, Star of Bethlehelm, Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer, That's What I Want For Christmas, Baby, It's Cold Outside, Merry Chrsistmas Darling, Christmas Eve - Sarajevo, Keep Christmas With You

San Diego Chorus : So Fine

Review: Nothing is finer than a Sweet Adeline chorus in full song and this new release from this champion chorus is a delight from beginning to end. One would expect something great from this chorus as they are directed by one of the biggest names in women's barbershop and this CD most certainly delivers the goods. Kim Hulbert has won the international quartet championship an unprecedented three times with A Cappella Gold, High Society and Savvy and her talents and years of experience have shaped this chorus to be a force to be reckoned with. Refreshingly many of the songs are arranged by women such as Nancy Bergman and Ann Minihane which somewhat surprisingly is rather unusual as many of the standard chorus arrangers are men. So Fine indeed!

Songlist: If There's Anybody Here, Yes Sir, That's My Baby, Listen To My Heart, I Don't Know Enough About You, There Goes My Heart, It Gets You Right Here, Cornet Man, St. Louis Blues March, Young And Foolish, Down South Camp Meeting, Saved, Brother Love's Traveling Salavation Show, Great Day, Power Of The Dream

San Diego Chorus : The San Diego Sound

Review: Founded in 1951, The 160-strong San Diego Chorus is one of the largest and most dynamic chapters of Sweet Adelines International, winning International Gold in Portland in 2001 and in Seattle in 1975, with 3 Silver medals and a Bronze sandwiched in between. Dynamically directed by the creative and talented Kim Hurlbert, herself a multiple winner of S.A. quartet gold, the SDC has a record of excellence and a sound to match. Included in "Sound" are 13 wonderful, rich selections, including several medleys, some of our favorites: "Parade Medley," "You're a Grand Old Flag," "Quiet Please, There's a Lady on Stage," "Amazing Grace," "Salute to the Armed Forces," "Cohen-Broadway Medley," "My Fair Lady Medley," "Andrew Lloyd Webber Medley" and "This is the Moment." Soaring solos, rich, spirited harmonies-SDC is the best, and they aren't afraid to flaunt it!

Scottsdale Chorus : AnySwing Goes

Review: This is a collection of Swing tunes from 2006 Sweet Adelines International Chorus winners The Scottsdale Chorus, directed by Lori Lyford. We have a special place in our hearts for the Swing Era, and the Chorus truly does it justice on songs like "Singin' With The Big Bands," "Embraceable You," "In The Mood," "Rhythm Medley," "Jump Shout Boogie," Duke Ellington's "It Don't Mean A Thing," "Original Dixieland One-Step," "Lies/Times Medley," "Saxophone Man" and "Where Does the Time Go." Spotlight : In The Spotlight

Review: It's good to be the Queen! So says this fabulous quartet after they became the 2006 Queens of Harmony in Detroit Michigan winning in one of the toughest international competitions in years. Kerry Denino, LeAnn Hazlett, Patti Britz and Kendra LaPointe wear their crowns well as is amply demonstrated on this fine recording where tight harmonies, fine voices and interesting arrangements abound. There's nothing quite like the sound of a top-notch women's barbershop quartet and this recording is one of the best in the genre.

St. Louis Harmony Chorus : Hooray for Hollywood

Review: Under the direction of the highly regarded Sandi Wright this new release from the vibrant Sweet Adeline Chorus is a tribute to some of the great Hollywood songs. With their usual flair the chorus does a wonderful job with the 20th Century Fox Fanfare with lyrics by Johnny Mercer, are fabulous singing the Greg Volk arrangement of "Some Lucky Day" (from Dick Tracy), delight with the title track from "Fame" and "Unforgettable" from the movie "Unforgettable" is, well, unforgettable. A very special treat and our favorite track is the Renee Craig arrangement of "Danny Boy".

Songlist: Hooray For Hollywood / 20th Century Fox Fanfare, Also Sprach Zarahustra, Fame, Why Did I Choose You, Some Lucky Day, Under the Boardwalk, Unforgettable, We Go Together, Danny Boy, South Rampart Street Parade, Seize The Day

Sweet Adelines : Sweet Adelines Best

Review: The women of Sweet Adelines, like their male counterparts, represent the most jubilant, and essentially American, style of harmony singing of the 20th century. This best-of compilation is a long-overdue salute to the stars (and spangles!) of SAI and its spirited membership. Featuring both the rousing and upbeat - High Society's "Thank You World," Showtime's "Ya Gotta Know/I Can't Give You Anything But Love," Classic Edition's "Hit Me With A Hot Note" and the brand new Signature Sound track, "Mama's Gone Goodbye Medley," - as well as the exquisite ache of Ambiance's "Bundle of Old Love Letters," Panache's "Someone Like You" and Swing Street's "All Of My Life," this collection of studio cuts is the first of its kind. We think your ears will agree that it's also the finest!

Songlist: Thank You World, Ya Gotta Know / I Can't Give You Anything But Love, I Only Have Eyes For You, All Of My Life, If I Had A Voice, I'm Dancing This Dance In The Wrong Romance, Someone Like You, Mama's Gone Goodbye Medley, Help I'm Turning Into My Parents, Keepin' Out Of Mischief Now, Hit Me With A Hot Note, Bundle Of Old Love Letters, I Wish I Had My Old Pal Back Again, Moondance, The Trolley Song, Sentimental Journey

Sweet Adelines : Top Quartets 2006

Review: Another great Sweet Adelines International convention took place this year, and this one was especially exciting as it was held in Las Vegas, Nevada! The Bay Area favorite, the Razzcals did quite well this year, taking 3rd Place. Four Betty's, who also put on a great show at our 2005 Harmony Sweepstakes, Chicago Regional, grabbed 2nd place. This year's Queens, SALT, stole the show, reminding us once again, so many great performers/musicians have come out of Sweden. This CD features two tracks from the quartets placing 4th - 10th, three tracks from Four Bettys and the Razzcals, and we get to hear four tracks from SALT! If you're looking for the best in Sweet Adelines' recordings, this collection definitely delivers!
