Heart to Heart, a mixed a cappella quartet and pride of Slinger, WI bring us a finely-crafted collection of Barbershop and Pop tunes. Actually a pair of married couples, these four friends have been making beautiful music together for decades, and it shows. Their song selection includes some of our favorites: "Some Lucky Day," "Route 66," The Turtles' "Happy Together," "Choo Choo Ch'Boogie," Billy Joel's "And So It Goes," "When I Fall In Love," the slightly silly "Seaside Rendezvous," the Contemporary Christian song "Mary Did You Know," "Cabaret" and "Operator." Fun stuff from four friends who love to sing, Heart to Heart!

Coppell, Texas-based mixed Christian barbershop quartet (2 men and two women) Kindred Spirits bring us eight finely-crafted Christmas tunes: "Fum, Fum Fum," "I Wonder What You're Doing for Christmas," the sweet, soulful "What Can I Give Him," the inspirational "I Have Been Revived," "Mary Did You Know?", "It Is Well With My Soul," "Santa Claus Is Coming To Town" and "Auld Lang Syne." Kindred Spirits sings with a lot of warmth, and there are a lot of wonderful harmonies in this CD-and good feeling for the blessed event that is the true reason we celebrate Christmas.

Rick Serpico, Amy Carr, Donna Perrone and Tom Halley are PhilHarmonix, is a mixed Barbershop/Sweet Adelines quartet founded in 1997. They are winners of the 2000 Buckeye Invitational. Included on the CD are 13 songs. Some of our favorites: the title tune, "Lazy Day," The Beach Boys' "In My Room," Gershwin's "Slap That Bass," Tom Jones' "Soon It's Gonna Rain," Randy Newman's "Dayton, Ohio-1903," and "The Rhythm of Life" by Cy Coleman. Voices of Liberty : A Cappella Americana   

Derric Johnson is the director of the 'Voices Of Liberty,' the ten-voice ensemble that performs at Walt Disney World. This collection, featuring the Voices themselves, is as unabashedly and straightforwardly patriotic as it is possible to be, with songs such as 'This Land Is Your Land,' 'America, The Beautiful' and 'Battle Hymn Of The Republic' on the set list. The CD's opener, 'Golden Dream,' is the musical equivalent of a twelve-gun salute, if for nothing other than its finale, which climbs up the scale chromatically to dizzying heights. The challenging arrangements and the virtuosity of the performances - excellent across the board - are a complement to the sometimes grave lyrical content, which emphasizes all-American values with unmitigated confidence. Whatever one's opinions on that score, musically 'A Cappella Americana' is great.
