A mouthful of sound? We've got you covered. Hailing from Cambridge, MA we're Boston; wicked Boston. Don't believe us? We've got the personality--Bostonality--to prove it. A group of young professional 20-somethings couldn't satisfy their a cappella fix, so Bostonality was born. Passionate about music, we're a cappella junkies; and that's where our stories collide. Our semi-professional, co-ed, post-collegiate family performs energetic and eclectic tunes at showcases, benefits, private events and competitions. Inspired by a blend of pop-rock-folky-soul, our sound fills. Really, we just love to sing.
One of the all-time greatest jazz vocal groups, the Boswell Sisters, Martha, Vet and Connee, began their career in the vaudeville houses of New Orleans. Connee, paralyzed from the waist down by a childhood accident (though her disability was often attributed to polio), always performed sitting down. Gifted musicians as well as singers, the sisters also worked at a local radio station, performing classical and semi-classical instrumentals. (Martha played piano, Vet played violin, banjo and guitar, and Connee played cello, saxophone and guitar.) Their careers took off when the radio station gave them a daily singing program.
For more than 50 years, the Boulder Chorale has been a source of musical inspiration, education, and collaboration within the Boulder community. Our mission is to enrich and inspire a broad community through music.
The Boulder Chorale is inter-generational. More than 200 singers, ages 5 to over 90, perform in seven ensembles at free concerts, high-profile community events, and traditional performances.
We have been an active barbershop chorus since 1949. We are an a capella chorus who sings music in the barbershop style and we have a great time doing it! In our 70th year of making music we are excited to announce we have become the first mixed barbershop chorus in our region!
Under the direction of Anthony Antolini, an ensemble made up of Bowdoin College students, faculty and staff and Brunswick area community members.
An auditioned large ensemble open to all male students at Bowling Green State University, the chorus' motto and reputation as "America's Finest Singing Machine" is well deserved, emanating from over 35 years of musical excellence. The ensemble encompasses students from all majors; over half are non-music majors, representing all seven colleges at the University.
The chorus organizes and presents two tours each academic year. Fall finds the singers traveling to locations in Ohio and Michigan, performing at high schools during the day and various concert venues in the evenings. The spring tour ventures to a new location each year, and past trips have taken the men to Colorado, Florida, New York City, Washington D.C., and Toronto. These off-campus pursuits provide opportunities to perform for diverse audiences, serve as musical ambassadors for BGSU, see different parts of the country, and bond and create lasting friendships with fellow chorus members.
Portland Conservatory of Music is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) community music school in Portland, Maine, for all ages, abilities and financial circumstances. We believe that high quality music education should be available to everyone and strive to make that happen.
No Instruments? No Problem! Specializing in cover, pop and rockin' upbeat music, this high energy group combines all-vocal drums, guitars, and horns with smooth 5-part harmony to make you think there's an entire band on stage!
For over 14 years, Boyz Nite Out has traveled throughout the world appearing at major festivals, corporate events and private performances. The group has worked with such artists as Ray Charles, ELO, Jay Leno, Kool & the Gang and Michael MacDonald and has released 3 full length CD projects selling over 20,000 copies in the United States and Japan.
The chorale consists of men and women ages 18 and older who share a commitment to excellence, a passion for music, and a desire to serve their community. The BVC is fortunate to have the wonderful and growing support of area businesses, organizations and individuals who make our expression of choral art possible. Just as our Brandywine Valley Region is rooted in rich beauty and culture, the chorale reflects its surroundings by performing fine music and building our area's tradition as an exceptional center for performing arts.
Established in 1975 the Branford Chorale is a non-audition, non-profit community music group. We sing a wide variety of music including pop, folk, spiritual, jazz and holiday music.
The Branford Chorale is about having fun through music. After producing 80+ concerts over 43 years our mission is stronger than ever, make music accessible to everyone. We hope to reach musicians from beginner to advanced as well as entertain the shoreline community.
Going into our Winter 2019 season we are lucky to have such a talented and energetic director lead our group. Nick Filippides created and conducted our past three concerts; Rooted, How the Chorale Stole Christmas and Imagine. Nick's positivity, great music choices and the company of truly fun people makes the Branford Chorale a fantastic community group to sing with and makes for an excellent concert.
Brass Farthing is a group of stalwart lads brought together to sing songs, raise good cheer, and otherwise make merry in the company of friends both old and new. We take our inspiration from many periods and enjoy performing historical, traditional, and contemporary compositions in traditional styles.
George started the group in August 2006. We first performed at the Dickens Chistmas Fair and have performed there every year. We cut our self-published CD "Brass Farthing" in summer 2007. We also perform at the Northern California Ren Faire, Steam Punk Conventions and local bars.
The BMC's oldest performing ensemble, the Brattleboro Concert Choir performs an exciting and challenging repertoire, ranging from classic choral masterpieces to rarely heard or newly commissioned works.
The Brattleboro Women's Chorus is open to women and girls ages 10 and up to sing and harmonize together. New members are welcome to join at the start of our sessions in September and March. There are no auditions and experience reading music is not necessary. Our concerts are the weekend before Thanksgiving and on Mother's Day weekend. Please visit our website for more details on joining us or coming to our concerts
After 12 appearances on the Sweet Adelines International Competition stage, Brava! won the International Championship in Phoenix, Arizona on September 19, 2003. Bringing the gold medals & crowns home to Vancouver Canada was a first for their proud country. Not only did Canada have its very first gold medalist quartet, this was also the first time in many years that all four members of the championship quartet are all brand new "Queens of Harmony" in the Coronet Club of Sweet Adelines Int'l. Brava! Quartet was born in 1989 in Vancouver, BC, Canada, and their journey from novice to number one was not an easy or short trip, but was always an interesting one and well worth the efforts! One step at a time, with the occasional step back, and only one missed contest in 1995, their international placements from 1991 to 2003 are witness to their dedication and tenacity.
Founded in 1972 by Dr. Brazeal W. Dennard, recipient of The Maynard Klein Award in recognition of artistic excellence in the field of choral music, the Brazeal Dennard Chorale is a group of highly trained singers dedicated to developing the choral art to its highest professional level. The Chorale is deeply committed to the rediscovery and performance of significant choral works by African American composers. In 1985, Dr. Dennard subsequently organized the Brazeal Dennard Community Chorus as a community outreach program to encourage participation of members of the surrounding communities and to provide them with vocal training and professional performance opportunities. The Brazeal Dennard Youth Chorale composed of young singers between the ages of 13 and 19 was formed in 1982 to develop these students in the study of the choral art and encourage the dedication to and performance of challenging literature. Dr. Dennard celebrated 60 consecutive years of choral conducting in July 2007 and though retired, remains Artistic Director Emeritus of the Brazeal Dennard Chorale, which is now in the capable hands of artistic director, Dr. Augustus O. Hill.
Founded in 1969, we are a group of 100+ community members of varying ages, backgrounds and musical skills from the Brazos Valley. Our desire is to foster a deeper appreciation for high quality choral music in our community!
The Brearley Singers is an inclusive and welcoming non-audition choral group under the innovative leadership of Music Director Keith Burton. Its approximately 70 members present a varied program of classical and modern works in two concerts a year.
Cutting-edge arrangements, tight vocal percussion and spirited harmonies are just some of the phrases used to describe Nashville based vocal group Breath of Soul. Since 2006, the group has brought their unique a cappella tunes to festival, concert, and church audiences throughout the United States and abroad.
Before their relocation from the midwest to Nashville, TN, Breath of Soul was formerly titled 5one - so named for the familiar music cadence, V-I. The group originated at Millikin University in Decatur, IL and three of the five founding members of 5one still perform with the group today.
Based out of the Northern Virginia/Washington D.C. area, the professional male ensemble, Brethren, is a Christian group comprised of 30 singers from all walks of life including professional military musicians, free-lance artists, financial planners, educators, church musicians, a surveyor, a defense contractor, a park ranger, a flight attendant and a member of the Metropolitan Opera Company in New York City. In addition, singers hail from nineteen different states in the Union: Alabama, American Samoa, Arizona, California, Florida, Georgia, Kansas, Maryland, Michigan, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia and, of course, Washington, D.C.
The group actually began in October 2005 when a select group of singers gathered to record a small selection of a cappella hymns (The Hymn Project) as a Christmas gift for one of their mothers. Nine singers met for the first time in a small, basement studio, spent about 10 hours recording some of their favorite hymns, and the rest is, as they say, history. In fact, the group never intended to continue singing together after the project was completed, but God had other plans.
In September 2006, the group Brethren was officially founded with 12 singers and a desire to share their music ministry with the people of the DC/MD/VA area. They didn't know what opportunities lay ahead for this new venture, but they stepped out in faith. In June of 2007, Brethren recorded their second album, Then Christmas Comes, and continued to perform about once a month in local churches. Later that fall, the group grew to 16 members and began to receive invitations to travel outside of the Northern Virginia region and travel they did. During the remainder of 2007, concerts took them to North Carolina, Texas, South Carolina and West Virginia.
The Brevard Community Chorus is a volunteer organization of 100-plus voices that meets weekly for the purpose of rehearsing and performing the larger works of the choral repertoire. At its home in the Maxwell C. King Center for the Performing Arts, the chorus has performed such works as Handel's Messiah, Poulenc's Gloria, Mozart's Requiem, Brahms's Ein Deutsches Requiem, and Orff 's Carmina Burana.
The chorus was formed in 1969 by Eldon Moen, then a teacher of Humanities at Brevard Junior College (now Eastern Florida State College). Begun as a small choir from the Junior College with members from Melbourne's First Baptist Church, the chorus continued to grow and perform. In 1987, the chorus found a permanent home in the King Center for the Performing Arts and the conducting baton passed to Dr. Jeff Reynolds. Over the next decade, the chorus grew in stature and began touring internationally.
The current conductor of the chorus is Dr. Robert E. Lamb who came to BCC in 1998 to continue steering the chorus in exciting directions. Under his leadership, the chorus has continued to tour Europe during summers and has performed a number of times alongside the Brevard Symphony Orchestra.
Dr. Lamb is currently Professor of Music, Director of Choral Activities, and Chair of the Department of Fine and Performing Arts at Brevard Community College. The North Carolina native attended Wake Forest University and later the University of North Carolina at Greensboro, where, he earned a Master of Music in Choral Conducting.
This male a cappella chorus also includes quartets and small singing groups. Although music is sung in the historical barbershop style of four-part harmony, we have contemporary songs in our repertoire that have been arranged in the barbershop style.
Bridge Town Sound offers family friendly entertainment, and we perform in various formal and informal settings. We also compete with other barbershop choruses in the northwest region and promote non-profit causes. We're always auditioning new members who want to experience the joy of quality four-part harmony. We are not just a singing organization. We are a family.
The chorus enjoys performing within our community. We have performed in many venues, including the Bozeman Senior Center, local nursing homes, the Livingston health fair, the Belgrade Festival of Lights, and, of course, the Chord Rustlers' annual show.
The chorus is a part of Sweet Adelines International Region 13 which holds an annual competition for choruses from Montana, Alaska, Idaho, Oregon, or southern Washington in April or May. Most recently they placed 6th overall and 2nd among small choruses in the 2012 Region 24 competition held in Spokane, WA. Next competition for our chorus will be April 2019; some of us will attend April 2018 competition.
The Broad Cove Chorale-Unicorn Singers, Inc. (BCC-US) of the South Shore of Massachusetts is a non-profit organization and community of volunteer, semi-professional, and fully professional musicians that are deeply committed to the core values of artistic excellence and community enrichment.
We are composed of two adult choruses: a 16-member womens' chorus, the Broad Cove Chorale, and a 20-member mixed chorus, the Unicorn Singers.
BCC-US prides itself on its unique personality and range of activities. We perform a wide variety of music, from Bach to Brahms, from Barbershop to Broadway, often from memory and in costume. We hire no outside soloists, which means we attract excellent musicians who know they will have solo opportunities. Our director performs many of the administrative duties, which leaves our singers more time for singing! We are also unique in that we generate a much larger than usual percentage of our operating budget by our performing activities. We work hard to delight and enrich the lives of our singers and of the listening public of all ages on the South Shore and around Boston.
We create a distinctive treble sound on even the most complex arrangements. BroadBand is a Boston-area group dedicated to delivering a beautiful harmonic blend and an engaging a cappella performance experience for our audiences. We choose arrangements that are snazzy, melodic, unique. Our repertoire includes jazz, pop and contemporary styles of music.
It's part of our mission to make a cappella entertainment accessible for fundraisers, schools and other good causes. Singing is not a day job for any of the "Broads," so we make service to non-profits our performance priority. We are also very proud to have been selected to perform the National Anthem for the Boston Celtics (5 times and counting) and the Boston Red Sox.
Broadmoor Chamber Singers, a community chorus founded in 1979, enjoys singing classical, jazz, folk, spirituals, gospel, and popular music in all voice parts (SATB). Solo opportunities are available.
The singers include neighbors from all walks of life - accountants, students, journalists, stay at home parents, music teachers, engineers - and new members are always welcome.
The love of singing is what brought the members of The Bronx Concert Singers together, but we have an even greater purpose. We desire to bring the downtown concert hall experience to communities within the Bronx and Greater New York where classical music programs might not be readily available. We seek to share with audiences our joy of performing great choral music, which includes European choral masterworks, music from contemporary composers and works from our world's various cultures. Our concerts are presented with professional orchestra or chamber ensemble, and have been a source of cultural enrichment since 1981. Our greatest desire is that our performances inspire people to make both choral and classical music a regular part of their cultural activities.
Bron Dixon, a charter member and musical director of Sweet Adelines' Mobile (Alabama) Chapter, organized The Bron's Tones quartet in 1962. All four members were originally from Mobile but personnel changes and transfers divided the group between Birmingham and Mobile, creating a 260-mile, five hour drive for rehearsals. Early in 1971, the quartet had made a 17-day USO tour of military hospitals in the Pacific.
That same year they won the Sweet Adelines championship; the morning after winning, the new international champions made a special closed-circuit television performance at the request of former U.S. President Harry S. Truman. The Bron's Tones remained active until their retirement in 1978.
After 11 years as the Concordia Chorale, our 60-voice adult chamber choir became the resident chorus at Brookdale Community College in the fall of 2012. It is now the Brookdale Concordia Chorale. September brings us to our 19th season. Normally we rehearse in the Performing Arts Center building at Brookdale Lincroft campus on Monday nights at 8pm. We sing the masterworks of the classical repertory and we have performed a wide range of major works by Bach, Handel and Mozart in particular. Covid brought our live rehearsals and concerts to a halt in March of this year. Now we rehearse on Zoom and in the right hand column you can read the details of our performance plans. Singers are still joining the Chorale, happy to have an outlet for singing in a social environment.
Founded in October 2011, Brookline A Cappella is a soprano, alto, tenor, bass ensemble conducted by Susan Emmanouilidis.
Brookline A Cappella explores the wide diversity of a cappella music from Early Music through newly composed repertoire; from American music of all genres to music from cultures throughout the world.
We are an eclectic group of singers with backgrounds ranging from the classically trained to amateur rock and rollers and karaoke champions. We come together to share the magic of a cappella choral music with the greater Boston community; from formal concerts to performances at assisted care facilities, veteran's associations and festivals, our members simply enjoy the gift of collaborative singing.
The Brooklyn Community Chorus (BCC) is a self-governing, egalitarian organization, open to all singers from diverse backgrounds, ages, and musical experiences. BCC is dedicated to exploring a variety of musical styles, including classical, spiritual, show tunes, folk, world, jazz, rock, and pop, and performed in both large-group and smaller ensemble settings. BCC focuses on vocal and choral techniques, creating a sense of musical and group harmony, and having serious fun.
The Brooklyn Tabernacle Choir is directed by Carol Cymbala, the wife of Senior Pastor Jim Cymbala and the daughter of the church founder, the late Rev. Clair Hutchins. Although the Choir is composed of vocally untrained church members, it has been used by the Lord to present the love of God all over the world. The 285-voice choir has recorded three videos, three DVDs, and numerous albums, winning six Grammy Awards. "The choir represents all different walks of life and every kind of sin," Pastor Cymbala says. "You name it and we have someone who has been saved out of it, standing next to another one who has grown up in the church."
In the early 1980's, Carol Cymbala decided to "make a little tape for the church," and when she had trouble finding enough appropriate songs, she began writing them. Although she cannot read or write music, the Lord has given her a special gift to direct and create from the heart through the power of the Holy Spirit. After 25 years of recording and live performances, the Lord continues to use the Choir to carry the message of the Gospel around the world.
The Brooklyn Women's Chorus is a community chorus that was formed in October 1997 by Park Slope resident and musician, Bev Grant. The chorus has a repertoire ranging from South African freedom songs to socially relevant songs by contemporary American songwriters like Garth Brooks, Jackson Browne, Pat Humphries and Bev Grant, herself. Topics range from freedom and justice, to peace, resistance, and women's labor history.
At Brooklyn Youth Chorus, when we train singers, we nurture their voices and ambitions. Singing with a group exposes young people to what's possible - in music, their future careers, and in their community. They begin to understand that they belong in all spaces, that their voices matter.
We consider a young voice a resource that needs care, encouragement and time to blossom. The old-fashioned notion of learning by doing is alive here, paired with a modern, healthy approach so our singers can develop and thrive. Our singers are taught repertoire from a wide array of genres, featuring a broad representation of composers.
Our students learn to work as a team. We take a collaborative approach to learning, with the teacher as the facilitator, resulting in accountability to themselves and their peers. The skills derived from music experience carry over into all areas of life. The effort and time students put into chorus is visible and empowering.
The Broomfield Civic Chorus, a non-profit singing group, was founded by Elis-Barbara Schipper in 1988. Over the years the group has grown from the original 25 members to a chorus of 40-45 singers. In June, 2007, the group joined other area choruses in performing Faure's "Requiem" at Carnegie Hall in New York City.
In addition to the Broomfield Civic Chorus, Ms. Schipper directs the choir at the Presbyterian Church of Broomfield, a position she has held since 1972. She graduated from the University of Colorado with a major in German and minors in music and English.
The Brotherhood of Harmony will strive to be a world-class performing arts organization that entertains audiences and spreads the spirit and vision of our society through a shared experience of musical excellence.
he Brothers in Harmony chapter of the Barbershop Harmony Society was originally chartered in 1983 as the Easton, Pennsylvania Brothers in Harmony, in 1997 the Brothers recruited Jack Pinto to be our director. That began a new era and the Brothers have racked up numerous successive major accomplishments, the most recent of which was a 6th place finish at the 2013 International Contest in Toronto.
The chorus relocated to Hamilton Square, New Jersey in 2009 to draw from the wider region from Delaware to Philadelphia to North Jersey. Since then we've seen steady growth surpassing 90 active members in early 2014. Many members travel over an hour to be a part of this special organization.
The Brothers are totally committed to excellence and we look forward to more wonderful accomplishments in the future.

The Bucks County Choral Society's mission is to give memorable performances of outstanding choral music and to enrich the community through the choral music experience.
Thank you so much for your interest in the Bucks County Women's Chorus, a non-auditioned, 90-voice, all-female ensemble that performs a variety of light genre, from show tunes and standards to pop, jazz, folk tunes, spirituals, and more. Founded in 2012, we have spent 9 years honing our skills and presenting dozens of concerts throughout the Greater Philadelphia area. In addition, we have created a "singing sisterhood" that has provided a musical outlet for hosts of singers of all ages and levels of experience, and - as such - we have entertained thousands of audience members since our founding.
The women in the ensemble represent a variety of age groups and religious and ethnic backgrounds and hail from towns all around Bucks County and beyond, including Philadelphia and Montgomery Counties. Some have sung all their lives. Others haven't sung in a chorus since high school or college or have never participated in a choral program. But all share a love for singing and a desire to participate in a quality ensemble.
The Buckthorns have their roots (pun intended) in performances that began in 1994. Several members of the Lake Forest Open Lands Association were invited to provide musical entertainment for one of the group's events. The performance was so well received that the singers were invited to perform at subsequent Open Lands events.
The singers officially assumed the name The Buckthorns for a performance at a private Christmas party in 1995. The group named themselves "The Buckthorns", after the Glossy Buckthorn plant, a "bad weed" that springs up everywhere. Consistent with their namesake, The Buckthorns began receiving invitations to perform at many other community events.
In 1947, baritone Hershel Smith, a corporate executive, and lead singer Al Shea, a policeman, got together at Smith's home in Buffalo New York with the idea of forming a barbershop quartet. Tenor Vern Reed, an executive for a boy's club, and bass Bill Spangenberg, a truck driver for a steel company were added. The quartet competed at various competitions with modest success. Shortly afterward, Smith was promoted and transferred to Madison Wisconsin, and the quartet was disbanded. Had they not reorganized, the entire face of barbershop harmony may have been vastly different than it is today.
However, Shea and Reed insisted on continuing, and they found baritone Dick Grapes. The quartet blossomed quickly, winning a national competition in 1950, and developing quite a fan club. Over the next few years, they booked many engagements and cut some records.
Buffalo Choral Arts Society (BCAS) is a 115-voice auditioned choral ensemble under the direction of Marcia A. Giambrone, who has served as Conductor and Music Director since 1987.
During her tenure, the chorus has broadened its scope to perform a wide range of musical genres from classical to sacred to Broadway. BCAS members come from all walks of life, and our diverse performance venues and varied repertoire are the hallmark of this ensemble.
Chartered in 1964, the Buffalo Gateway Chorus is an award-winning Western New York-based nonprofit organization of 90 women singers. We celebrated our 50th anniversary in 2014 and we're still going strong! Ignite a spark that may have been dormant inside of you and visit us on any Wednesday night from 7:00 to 10:00 p.m.. You will find that the energy, musical excellence and friendship is unsurpassed in WNY choral circles!
