It was December 1973 when a small group of women came together in Avon Park, Florida, (near Sebring, FL) with a vision of advancing the musical art form of 4-part harmony in this small rural community located in the center of Florida. Their goal was to create a chorus of women who had a common love of good music, a passion for singing, and the perseverance to attain set goals. Thus, The Heart of Highland Show Chorus was formed. Our membership has grown to include women of all ages who come from all walks of life. We strive to improve our techniques through practice and expert coaching. Fun and relaxation is also a key ingredient to the success of our chorus. We are not only chorus members who share a common goal but we are also good friends. If you would like to be a part of The Heart of Highland Show Chorus, we encourage you to come and experience the joy of friendship and music.

The barbershop style is distinctive from other singing styles because the melody, sung by the lead voice, is below the tenor harmony. The lowest harmony is sung by the bass and the baritone voice completes the four-part chord. Close harmony and ringing chords are what distinguish the barbershop style.

The Tampa Bay Heralds of Harmony Chorus has been entertaining audiences for over 75 years. The Tampa Chapter is part of the Barbershop Harmony Society and consists of more than 60 men who share in the enjoyment of singing. Unaccompanied by instruments, Barbershop music is a unique American art form with four-part close harmony which produces 'ringing' chords. The growth of the music style was enhanced by the types of songs popular between the 1860s and 1920s - songs with sentimental lyrics and simple melodies that made harmonizing easy. In 2024 the Heralds won a second place Silver Medal at the Barbershop Harmony Society International Chorus Contest.
Our season typically includes three concerts: two classical and one Pops. Our classical concerts feature professional orchestra and soloists in the performance of a wide range of choral music. Our Pops concert features lighter music with a more relaxed atmosphere.
Heritage Chorale was founded in 1984 by a group of experienced choral singers residing in Oak Park who wanted an opportunity to sing in a community-based chamber choir. They enlisted the help of Robert Fuller, choir director of the Oak Park and River Forest High School, who, as founding director, provided the driving force and artistic vision that guided the choir through the first five seasons.
The purpose of the Chorale is to provide an opportunity for experienced choral singers to sing in a community-based chamber choir in the Oak Park-River Forest area and to perform choral masterworks by composers from around the world, including the local area, in many different styles, from many different periods of music, and from many cultures.

The Heritage Signature Chorale is committed to preserving, at the highest possible level, the performance tradition of African-American choral music, especially the Negro Spiritual; to elevating the African-American singer and composer in all musical genres; and to bringing a unique interpretation of classical music from America, Europe and other regions of the world.
The Chorale provides a venue for showcasing artists, composers, and arrangers who share this commitment, thereby fostering community awareness and appreciation of this important legacy.

They saw the need for a new chapter, based in Spring Hill, and from its beginning with about 15 singers the chapter grew steadily over the years, reaching 50 members by 2013.
Hi-Fidelity is considered to be one of the top a cappella show quartets in the country with a locked sound, creative packages and an extremely unique sense of humor (perhaps twisted?). Hi-Fidelity is the current Champions of the Barbershop Harmony Society's Far Western District. They have also taken top honors at another national "mixed" a cappella contest in 2002 when they were crowned the Buckeye Invitational Grand Quartet Champions. Their CD, "Almost Live" has been a big hit, and one cut (Blackbird Parody) was nominated for a CASA award in 2005. You may have seen them in some commercials too! Either as the Roto-Rooter plumbers or promoting the popular X-Box game "Tao Feng, Fist of the Lotus" (a very "painful" commercial - Check it out at www.hifidelityquartet.com). The guys are also members of the current International chorus champions, Masters of Harmony.
One of the most innovative jazz/pop vocal groups of all time, the pioneering Hi-Lo's influenced countless pop, R&B, and doo wop groups from the '50s right up to the present.
They formed in December 1953 when Gene Puerling of Milwaukee and friend Bob Strasen met Clark Burroughs and Bob Morse. The latter two were vocalists with the Encores, the vocal group for the Billy May Band. When Billy's band stopped traveling, the Hi-Lo's were born. Reportedly named because of their extreme vocal and physical ranges (Strasen and Morse were tall, Gene and Clark were short), the Hi-Lo's practiced at Clark and Gene's Los Angeles apartment, refining their revolutionary voicings. The group were themselves influenced by such artists as The Four Freshmen, The Modernaires, and Mel Torme's Mel-Tones.
The Hickory Choral Society raised its collective voice for the first time in 1978, touching music lovers in the Catawba Valley with the spirit of song. Today, some 110 singers blend their voices in harmony, brought together by a common devotion to music.
The High Desert Harmoneers Chorus was chartered in 1991 by a group of men who enjoy singing a cappella harmony primarily in the barbershop style. Although few of the charter members are still with us, we have members with a wealth of knowledge and experience. Some of us are "home grown" and some have moved to Central Oregon having been longtime members of other chapters. We also have members with little or no experience who visited, liked what they saw, and signed up. We are a group of congenial personalities who all have one thing in common: The love of singing.

We empower and uplift women of all ages and abilities and spread the joy of music throughout our community.

This, combined with an undisputable jazz influence & champion arranger, makes Janet, Christy, Lori, Joe and Mike the ensemble that is unmistakably High Five.
We are a fraternity of Barbershoppers! And what is Barbershop? Simply put, it is men's four-part vocal harmony; an original American art form that continues to be vibrant today! According to the Barbershop Harmony Society, "It is music in a very pure form created with nothing but the human voices coming together to create a rich and satisfying texture that is pleasing to the ears and invigorating to the soul".
The High Mountain Chordsmen is the men's chorus of the Prescott chapter of the Barbershop Harmony Society. The Barbershop Harmony Society was founded in 1938 and has grown to include 23,000 members in nearly 800 chapters and 17 Districts in the U.S. and Canada, plus affiliates worldwide.

Every year our quartets deliver Singing Valentines to many appreciative (and surprised) lovers!
We have a strong commitment to youth, so in 2009 and 2010 we hosted and joined in with the "Real Men Sing" choral festival at Mile High Middle School. The all day event, in collaboration with local educators, was aimed at young men in local schools, for them to experience the joy of singing and encourage them to join their school choruses. It began in the morning with harmony workshops and concluded with an evening public performance by nearly 100 males singers, ranging in age from 10 to 82!
During December the chapter presents holiday music throughout the Prescott and Prescott Valley areas. We have performed at Acker Night, in local Christmas parades, at Hertitage Park Zoo, and at most senior and assisted living facilities throughout the area. Our schedule for the 2012 Holiday season included 21 performances!
The four original members of High Society were also members of the 1975 International Champion San Diego Chorus. They began singing together at a coffee shop after a chorus function. Several hours later they agreed they had something special and that all four wanted to be quartet champions.
Bette was choreographer for the San Diego Chorus and, after winning the quartet championship, began directing the Escondido Chorus. Kim was a relative newcomer to Sweet Adelines. She had met Pat in a carpool, where they sang with the radio. Pat was unable to convince Kim to join Sweet Adelines but Kim's mother finally persuaded her. Sandy served as the costume chair for San Diego Chorus. Pat served as assistant director for San Diego as well as director for Singing Hills Chorus. She was a choreographer coach and designed the quartet costumes and hairdos.
