Yesteryear
Lead: Mark Blake. Tenor: Don Trakas. Baritone: Rodney Nixon. Bass: Randy "Beef" Baughman. The original version of Yesteryear was formed in February 1984. Over the years, 5 personnel changes lead to the present foursome. We placed in the top twenty at our first international contest in July 1992 in New Orleans. In 1993, we broke into the top ten, placing 8t in Calgary, Canada. We then took our Johnny Appleseed District crown that October. our first medal came in July 1994, receiving a bronze for third place in Pittsburg, PA. July 1995, saw us win the silver medal in Miami Beach, FL, and again the silver in Salt Lake City, UT in 1996. Yesteryear : Champions!  Last year's Society winners have harvested a crop of tried-and-true barbershop staples: "Lida Rose," "Down By the Old Mill Stream," "Sweet Indiana Home," and many others. The liner notes include the jolly quartet's top ten list for succeeding in barbershop singing, and this sense of enjoyment is evident in their performance. The resonant, deep bass voice on "Let There Be Peace On Earth" is particularly effective. Bonus track: Yesteryear impersonates Alvin and the Chipmunks.
