Pride Of Baltimore

Pride Of Baltimore

We are an a cappella women's chorus located in Central Maryland. Our 115 members come from 5 surrounding states including Pennsylvania, Delaware, Maryland, New Jersey, and Virginia. As the current Regional 19 Sweet Adelines International champion chorus, we are preparing to represent our region in the 2011 International Competition.

Joe Cerutti became the musical director of Pride of Baltimore Chorus in the summer of 2009. He holds a masters degree in choral conducting from Boston University and he is a passionate barbershopper. Joe has much experience in the barbershop music world including directing the Alexandria Harmonizers men's chorus. He is both a master director and a judge in the men's Barbershop Harmony Society. As a natural-born teacher, Joe also coaches choruses and barbershop quartets throughout the USA.

The goal of the chorus is provide a forum for women from all walks of life who wished to sing and perform at the highest possible level. A focus on outstanding singing, above all else, has been a hallmark of the chorus since its inception.

Pride Of Baltimore : Bursting With Pride

Review: The Pride of Baltimore Chorus was organized in February of 1993 by women seeking to perfect their abilities singing music in the barbershop style. Winning numerous regional awards since 1995, the chorus won 6th place in 1999 at the 2000 Sweet Adelines International Competition in Atlanta, Georgia. In October 2001, the chorus proudly placed 3rd at the 2002 International Competition in Portland, Oregon. And recently they were named 2004 2nd Place International Finalists! Under the talented leadership of Master Director Janet Ashford, the chorus has grown to about 80 voices. 14 spirited songs, from "Chordbuster's March," "My Honey's Lovin' Arms" and "(Here Am I) Brokenhearted," to Phil Collins' "Trashin' The Camp (with Chorus-supplied percussion)," "Big Bad Bill (Is Sweet William Now)," "Opus One," Lennon and McCartney's "In My Life" and "It's A Good Day" --The energy level, and breathtaking chords, stay high throughout. That's Entertainment! Recommended.
