Joshua Fit The Battle of Jericho

"Joshua Fit the Battle of Jericho" is a Negro Spiritual that recounts the biblical story of Joshua, and even as far back as the 1800s, gave a strong sense of hope to African-American slaves that their freedom would soon come. From researching its origins, learning the Moses Hogan version, having Débo Ray adapt it for Women of the World, to finally performing it on stage; this song has evolved into medicine music for us!

Bread and Roses

A political slogan attributed to a speech by Rose Schneiderman, which inspired a poem by James Oppenhain published in 1911. It was set to music by various composers, having been rediscovered after WWII. This version is based on the melody written by Margarita Mimi Baez Fariña in 1974.
