Mixed Community Chorus 50-voice semi-professional chorale acclaimed for its warmth of expression and artistic excellence. Founded in Kansas City in 1998, with roots tracing back to William Baker s original Festival Singers established in Atlanta in 1985, the ensemble is now in its 27th season. Known for performances that blend brilliance with sensitivity, the Festival Singers have been praised as offering great warmth almost like hearing a family (The Kansas City Star). The ensemble specializes in sacred short-form classical works, spirituals, and masterworks for chorus and orchestra, often collaborating with members of the Kansas City Symphony. Their artistry has been recognized nationally, earning the 2021 Ernst Bacon Award for Service to American Music and second place in the 2021 American Prize in Choral Performance. The Festival Singers have toured extensively across the United States, performing in New York City, Washington, DC, Chicago, New Orleans, and beyond. Their work has reached national audiences through over 25 recordings and broadcasts on Performance Today, The Sounds of Majesty, and KCTV-5 holiday specials. Recent highlights include Mozart s Great Mass in C minor, Bach s St. Matthew Passion, and Bloch s Sacred Service, reaffirming their place as one of America s premier choral ensembles. Founded - 1998.
