Warren Civic Chorus

Mixed Community Chorus

Based in Warren, OH

Nearly 100 voices strong, accompanied by members of the Warren Philharmonic Orchestra, and solos by renowned local music professionals, this musical presentation has become a delightful tradition to begin the holiday season. We welcome you to join us for one of our inspirational performances. For event details and directions, go to the Schedule page.

"Messiah," George Frideric Handel's most successful and best-known oratorio, was composed in twenty-four days, from August 22-September 14, 1741. It was first performed at a concert given for charitable purposes at Dublin, Ireland, on April 13, 1742, with Handel conducting the performance in person. As the centuries have passed, a considerable number of vocal scores have been made after Handel's initial work. However, the present edition follows Handel's original score, with slight deviations that have been inserted and become traditional authority.

Some of us remember when it was first performed by the Warren Civic Chorus, or when and where we first heard this magnificent work. We hope to maintain this traditional event with the support of members of the community.
