Rainshadow Chorale

Rainshadow Chorale

Community Chorus

Based in Port Townsend, WA

RainShadow is an auditioned chorale that performs primarily classical choral repertoire. Formed by a small group of choral musicians in 1997, it has grown to become an ensemble of the Olympic Peninsula's finest singers.

RainShadow has been led artistically since 2004 by director Rebecca Rottsolk and accompanied by pianist Lisa Lanza. In recent years the group has performed large works such as the Mozart Requiem, featuring an expanded chorus and substantial orchestra (2010), and chamber chorale repertoire such as Handel's Dixit Dominus, featuring a chamber chorus and smaller orchestra (2009). In addition RainShadow has performed with other choral groups in concert, for example Seattle's gospel choir "The Sound of the Northwest" in 2007.

Occasionally members of the chorale collaborate in temporary groupings for the purpose of performing for special events: in June of 2008, the RainShadow women's ensemble "Penumbra" was formed to participate in "Women Sing!" an Olympic Peninsula Women's Choral Festival. In December 2009 and again in 2010, Penumbra has subsequently performed two short holiday programs for the American Association of University Women.

Founded - 1997.   Auditioned.
