A setting of an antiphon for Maunday Thursday, Ubi caritas et amor was written in 1999 in memory of the choral conductor and scholar, Richard H. Trame, SJ. In this motet, Lauridsen subtly adapts the plainchant melody, adorning it with contrapuntal elaborations that create a glowing nimbus of sound.Premiered at Loyola Marymount University in December, 1998, Dr. Mary C. Brenden, Conductor, Loyola Marymount University Chorus Fr. Thomas P. O'Malley, S.J., President, Loyola Marymount University |
