Poker Face

Music by Lady Gaga

Originally Performed by Lady Gaga

"Poker Face" is a song by American singer Lady Gaga from her debut studio album, The Fame . It was released on September 23, 2008, as the album's second single. Following in the footsteps of her previous single "Just Dance", but with a darker musical tone. The main idea behind the song is bisexuality and was a tribute by Gaga to her rock and roll boyfriends. The song's lyrics feature various sexual innuendos.

"Poker Face" was acclaimed by most critics, who praised the song's robotic hook and chorus. The song attained worldwide success, topping the charts in 20 countries including the United States, the United Kingdom, Australia, New Zealand, Canada and many European countries. With over 14 million copies, "Poker Face" is one of the world's best-selling singles of all time and became the best-selling single of 2009 worldwide with over 9.8 million in sales that year alone. The accompanying music video for the song portrays Gaga singing it in various costumes and playing strip poker in a getaway villa. It was certified Diamond by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) in 2015.

Gaga performed the song on the eighth season of the television show American Idol, besides multiple other television appearances, as well as the 52nd Annual Grammy Awards, all of her concert tours, and the Super Bowl LI halftime show. "Poker Face" was nominated for both Song of the Year and Record of the Year at the 52nd Grammy Awards, and won the Grammy Award for Best Dance Recording.

Stefani Joanne Angelina Germanotta, better known by her stage name Lady Gaga, is an American recording artist. At Interscope Records, she worked as a songwriter penning music for established artists, such as Akon. During the same time, she began to play her music in clubs throughout New York City. She began working with a collective called the "Haus of Gaga" in 2008 and released her debut album The Fame, which she explained was "about how anyone can feel famous." The album peaked in countries like United Kingdom and Canada while being critically appreciated. To date, the album has spawned the international number one singles "Just Dance" (nominated for Best Dance Recording at the 51st Grammy Awards) and "Poker Face." LoveNotes Quartet : From The Heart

Ah, yes, we remember Sweet Adelines quartet The LoveNotes, Britanny, Mia, Caitlin and Stephanie from 2009 when they easily won the Bay Area Regional. We had previously seen them in the Regional as UnderAge, after they won the 2005 Sweet Adelines quartet championship for Young Women in Harmony. Now over 18 and calling themselves The LoveNotes, their 12 minute set, featuring a killer rendition of Queen's "Bohemian Rhapsody," won them Audience Favorite and Second Place only to more experienced Sweet Adelines contenders Maxx Factor. The Notes kept rising, and today they're wearing the crowns and gold medals of the 2014 Sweet Adelines International Quartet Champions! Their debut CD "From the Heart" has 13 cuts, some favorites are "No, No Norman," "Hooked On This Skype Thing," "I Used to Call Him Baby," the moody Bond and Adele classic "Skyfall," "Something's Coming," "Danny Boy" and "If We Hold On Together," but every cut is a polished winner. Our girls next door have grown up, and they're the best in the world!
