In Celebration of the Human Voice - The Essential Musical Instrument
In the early days of 1964, two local choruses, the Ramapo Chorus and the Valley chorus were seeking musical directors, when Renee Craig arrived in the area from Detroit. A merger was proposed and the rest is history! Chartered by Sweet Adelines International on February 24, 1964, the name 'Ramapo Valley' has become synonymous not only with musical excellence, but with the name Renee Craig. Our musical director, Renee Craig, is a world-renowned musical genius and she has been recognized and honored throughout both the women's and men's barbershop worlds, for her technique and and her fabulous arrangements.
From it's inception, Ramapo Valley has garnered top honors, winning 17 Regional Championships (from 1964 to 2004), and winning International medals 13 times, three of which are first place gold medals. Ramapo is noted for its extensive and varied repertoire of Broadway show tunes, jazz, swing, and golden oldies all arranged in 4-part barbershop harmony. RV's exceptional musical performances are enhanced by its exciting sound and innovative choreography. The chorus produces highly entertaining shows and perform in the community on a regular basis. Performances are tailored to individual situations. The selection of songs is geared to the season of the year and the size and type of venue. Ramapo loves to perform and travel. The chorus has appeared in 19 states and well as in the Royal Albert Hall in London, Carnegie Hall in New York City, and in the Roy Thompson Hall in Toronto, Canada.

BeHome For Christmas
Review: New York City's Sweet Adelines favorite Ramapo Valley Spotlight Chorus, who tell us they're based only 45 minutes from Broadway, bring that Broadway magic and panache to an ambitious, energetic Christmas CD. First we have "Happy Holidays/Winter Wonderland," "Deck the Halls/Hark the Herald Angels Sing," "Toyland," "God Rest Ye, Merry Gentlemen," "Jingle Bell Rock," "I Wonder As I Wander," "Angels We Have Heard On High," "Christmas Was Meant For Children" and "Hanukkah." Then comes "A Child Is Born" and a dramatic and touching Christmas narrative/medley, narrated by Renee Craig, "A Gift of Love." Included are "Gloria," "A Child Is Born in Bethlehem," "Rise Up Shepherd and Follow," "A Baby In A Cradle" and five others. There is some light flute, guitar and piano accompaniment on some songs. This CD might have been titled "Christmas on Broadway"- we like the spirit of RVSC, and we enjoyed "A Gift of Love!"
