Joker's Wild

Joker's Wild

Consider a deck of cards for a moment... The Ace is always the best, followed by the King and so on down the line. But when it comes to Barbershop Quartets, it's possible to be an Ace and King at the same time! How, you say? Simple. You just apply the card that can make anything happen... the Joker!

Joker's Wild was formed in August of 1990 when the original four members met informally at the Buckeye Invitational in Columbus, Ohio and harmonized together. The sound and enthusiasm of the evening convinced them to form a quartet to showcase their natural blend.

After winning the Johnny Appleseed District (JAD) Quartet Championship in October of 1990, Joker's Wild went on to represent JAD at the 1991 International Quartet Competition of the Society for the Preservation and Encouragement of Barber Shop Singing in America (SPEBSQSA) in Louisville, Kentucky. In their first appearance on the international stage, Joker's Wild placed 10th becoming International Finalist. In July 1992, at the International Quartet Contest in New Orleans, Los Angeles, they were honored to be named 5th place Bronze Medalists. The next year they became the 1993 2nd place Silver Medalists in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. And finally, in July 1994 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, they reached the ultimate goal of most barbershop quartet singers by becoming the 1994 International Champions.

Since winning the International Championship, Joker's Wild has been featured on shows and concerts throughout the world. Joker's Wild has entertained audiences in the United States, Canada, Germany, Italy, France, and Spain. The quartet has also performed on national television, including Good Morning, America, and radio spots across the United States. Other national and international performances are on the horizon as the quartet's vocal blend, musicianship, arrangements, and showmanship continue to grow and thrill audiences everywhere.

Group members: Steve Iannacchione, Steve Legters, Dave Kindinger, Jon Clunies.

Joker's Wild : Chasing A Dream

Review: These Jokers not only chased a dream they succeeded! You'll share that success on this recording which extends the variety of arrangements beyond the expected perfect barbershopping. We suggest that the sax break added to the middle of 'Afterglow' is nothing short of genius. Be sure to catch the ringing, extended and modulated final chord of 'Taint No Sin (To Dance Around In Your Bones).' Then there is a modified version of the Andrews Sisters big hit 'Don't Sit Under The Apple Tree.' (ha ha) Three very clever hits on a drum set punctuate one breath in Steve Allen's 'South Rampart Street Band,' another great David Wright arrangement. The finale is an inspiring version of 'The Impossible Dream' and then you remember 'The Man Of La Mancha.'

Songlist: The Rhythm of Life, Don't Break the Heart That Loves You , Afterglow, T'aint No Sin (To Dance Around in Your Bones), Stand By Me, Bye Bye Blues, Gospel Medley, Don't Sit Under the Apple Tree (With Anyone Else But Me), South Rampart Street Parade, Love Me, and the World is Mine, The Rhythm of Life, The Impossible Dream (The Quest)

Joker's Wild : Right From The Start

Review: The Jokers followed in the footsteps of the Gas House Gang in achieving the highest award in the barbershop world. In 1992 they were fifth, 1993 second and 1994 International Champions. They did it with perfection of style and beautiful voices. This recording is a fine reminder of their winning repertoire at that time. In true traditional form you'll hear 'Zing! Went The Strings Of My Heart,' 'The Original Dixieland One-Step,' 'Stars Fell On Alabama,' 'Georgia On My Mind,' 'My Buddy' and 'It Is Well With My Soul.' There are modern 'traditional' songs such as David Wright's 'Right From The Start She Had My Heart.' All in all this is a straight ahead extremely high caliber barbershop recording.

Songlist: Zing! Went The Strings Of My Heart, If You Had All The World And Its Gold, Holly, That's Life, Blue, Turning Grey Over You, The Original Dixieland One-Step, Stars Fell On Alabama, Right From The Start She Had My Heart, Can't You Hear Me Callin' Caroline, Georgia On My Mind (1903), Sweet Georgia Brown (1925), My Buddy (1922), I Didn't Want To Fall (1986), It Is Well With My Soul (1904)
