Recognized as one of the finest all male collegiate choral groups in the country, the University of Notre Dame Glee Club has a rich history of singing and brotherhood spanning the last eighty-five years. More than 2,000 young men have sung with the Club over the years, combing the rich traditions of Notre Dame with the highest standards of artistic excellence.
Since 1915, the members of the Glee Club have enjoyed an exciting fraternal organization combined with an intensive study of vocal technique and musical styles. The group has toured from coast to coast and around the world, performing over one hundred concerts per year. As musical ambassadors of Notre Dame, the Glee Club has always been welcomed with warmth and enthusiasm. Each year, the group performs four major concerts: one in the Fall, one at Christmas, one in the Spring, and one for Commencement. Not to mention the fact that the group performs many other smaller concerts including: ND in Revue (Saturday mornings before home ND football games) as well as Singing Valentines and Christmas Caroling at the women's dorms of Saint Mary's College and Notre Dame.
In his tenth year as conductor of the Notre Dame Glee Club, Daniel Stowe has been received very enthusiastically by the current club members as well as the alumni of the club. In his short tenure with the group. Professor Stowe has broadened the Glee clubs repertoire extensively. Stowe received his undergraduate degree from the University of California, Davis, and graduate degrees from the University of Southern California and Cornell University. During his career he has conducted the U.C. Davis Chorus, Chamber Singers and Early Music Ensemble, as well as the Cornell University Chorale. In addition to his duties with the Glee Club, he serves as the conductor of the Notre Dame orchestra. Stowe is currently completing a doctoral dissertation in Musicology at Cornell focusing on Italian vocal music of the early 16th century, and has contributed articles to the Harvard Dictionary of Musicians.

The Notre Dame Glee Club is a music tradition that began at the University in 1915. Since 1993, Daniel Stowe has led the Glee Club in world-wide tours with great success. Today, Glee Club repertoire is not just football songs, sea shanties and the alma mater theme. In recent years, the choir has been trimmed in numbers to 55 select singers, and their repertoire now focuses upon a wider range of styles: from German art songs, American spirituals, Russian Orthodox, Baroque and Renaissance sacred music, to Barbershop harmony and folk music from nations of the world. The Glee Club's versatility is showcased in the wide variety of genres on this disc.. The musicianship of the Glee Club is all the more remarkable when considering that the Glee Club is a volunteer ensemble, operating independently from music degree programs. Recorded in spring 2007, in the finely-tuned acoustic of Leighton Concert Hall in the newly-finished DiBartolo Performing Arts Center on the campus of University of Notre Dame.
