Moscow Boys Chorus

The moscow Boys Chorus is the premiere all-male ensemble from Russia that has thrilled audiences world-wide with their incredible sound. More than just the soprano singing produced by most boy choirs, this group features a distinctly Russian flavor with fresh intensity. In addition to performing for British Royalty and Heads of State around the globe, THE MOSCOW BOYS CHOIR has been featured on many television shows including CBS¹ Christmas Eve Holiday Special and Rev. Robert Schuler's Hour of Power. THE MOSCOW BOYS CHOIR performed for the President of the United States and the First Family in a Gala Concert at the White House in Washington, DC, where they had a private audience with the President. They are currently performing in the United States on their Ninth National Tour. Their repertoire is varied and impressive, featuring European and American classical pieces, selections from Russian composers as well as traditional Russian folksongs and Holiday selections from around the world. The depth and beauty of their abilities is astounding and enchanting, bringing the choral experience to a new and exciting level. Founded in 1957, the MBC is one of the most prestigious all-male choirs, directed by Leonid Baklushin. Members are selected for the touring company from over 400 students, the group has earned an reputation on tours of Russia, Europe, Canada and South Korea. The Choir’s distinctly Russian sound blends soaring soprano voices with rich bass and baritone. “Crescendo!” has 13 varied tunes, combining Christmas songs (“All the Angels in the Sky Rejoiceth,” “O! Holy Night,” Handel’s immortal “Hallelujah Chorus” and “Twelve Days of Christmas” with Russian folk songs “The Mountains,” “Dushechka,” “Calm Down Wild Winds,” “Evening Bells,” “Ochi Tchiornye” and “Kalinka.” The group adds “America the Beautiful,” and the pop tune “Swing”–a varied, incongruous repertoire, but it all works–great stuff!

This recording from the Moscow Boys Choir is a selection of the variety of styles that this choir performs.
