At an afterglow one cool September evening, four members of the
Masters of Harmony decided to sing a song together. Three hours later, they
had exhausted the entire repertoire from three choruses and a few international
championship quartets! Shortly after, they became a registered quartet and bought
matching socks. The quartet was first crowned 1997 Far Western District SoCal
East Divisional Champions, as well as received honors at the Modesto Invitational
quartet contest. In August of 1997, they traveled to Columbus, Ohio, and swept
the Buckeye Invitational. Riding high from their first year successes, Gotcha!
Qualified for the International Quartet contest for 1998 in Atlanta - a first
trip for each of them. At that contest, they placed 20th. Upon returning home,
the quartet immediately turned their focus to the 1998 Far Western District
contest in Phoenix, Arizona, where they were crowned and announced 1998 Far
Western District Champions. Recently, the quartet placed 12th at the 1999 International
Quartet Contest that was held in Anaheim. Since then, the quartet has climbed
from 12th place in the world to 8th, then 6th and now hold the 2nd place position.
Garry Texeira sings tenor and has been barbershopping
for over 20 years (starting at 12). You may recognize him from such quartets
as Power Source, Phonics, and most recently with Hometown Favorites. He is a
charter member of the Masters of Harmony, collecting all five world-championships
along the way. He lives in Irvine, Ca., with his lovely wife, Dawn, Sweet Adeline
lead and visual coach extraordinaire.
Chris Vaughn, sings lead and has been with the Society
since the age of 13. His Barbershop career began when he joined the Inland Cities
Chorus from Riverside, Ca. in 1991. He then moved on to join The Masters of
Harmony (four time International Chorus Champions) in 1995 where he was fortunate
enough to win two gold medals with the 130 man chorus. He performed in the front
row from the very beginning and served as the lead section leader. He currently
serves in the same positions for the Denver Mile-Hi Chorus. He began quartetting
in 1996 with Mothers Favorite with his father, Dale, and Gotcha! baritone, Alan.
Chris is currently living in Parker, CO., with his loving wife, Jenifer (a Sweet
Adeline lead), son Braden, and daughter, Avery.
Alan Gordon sings baritone and has been singing since he was 10, beginning
with the San Jose chorus for 8 years, San Diego for a year, and Masters of Harmony
for 4 years, serving as an assistant director and section leader with each group.
He currently serves as Director of the Verdugo Hill Showtime Chorus of Sweet
Adelines International. Past quartets include Flashback!, from northern California,
and Motherıs Favorite, with Chris.
Jim Kline has been quartetting since the age of 12. He is a two-time Far Western District Champion bass Crown City Good Time Music Company (1970), and 139th Street Quartet (1976). He has logged 29 International contest appearances, including 20 top ten finishes and 8 medals (3 silver). His barbershop experiences have taken him to almost every State in the U.S., every Province in Canada, and tours through England, Germany, Russia, and New Zealand. A show at Carnegie Hall has stood out as the most memorable show. Jim has appeared on several television programs, including ³Cheers² (twice!), ³Night Court², ³Nurses², ³Time of Your Life², and ³Neil Diamondıs Christmas Special². He has two Platinum sales awards for his singing on two Neil Diamond albums, as well. He is the proud father of two grown children, Talia and Jason.

Jazz Me Blues Gotta Be on My Way There Goes My Heart Anything / I Can't Give You Anything But Love Medley Hello Mary Lou Royal Garden BLues I'll Always Be Mother's Boy Twelve Days After Christmas For Me and My Gal Drifting My Honey's Loving Arms I'm Sitting on Top of the World What'll I Do Don't Beat the Heart that Loves You Swing Down Chariot |
Gotcha represents the next generation of barbershop, placing twelfth in the 1999 Championships in Anaheim. Hailing from Southern California, these fresh-faced lads are known for their intense live performances, galvanizing audiences with their bold and energetic delivery. Their repertoire is strong on barbershop stalwarts such as "For Me and My Gal," "My Honey's Lovin' Arms" and "Jazz Me Blues." The four obviously relish an opportunity for heavy lifting, deploying all their tools of the trade with challenging tags on songs such as "Anytime Medley" and "Hello Mary Lou," the latter arranged by David Wright, musical director and arranger for Ambiance. Indeed, the company that Gotcha is keeping indicates a fine barbershop sensibility, and a connoisseur's taste listen to their performance of Boston Common's "I'm Sitting On Top Of The World."
