Mutual Agreement

In the fall of 1993, under the directorship of Donald Jackson, six young men came together to form Mutual Agreement. The purpose of the group is to spread the word of God through song, and bring hope, strength and encouragement to souls living in these times of stress, heartbreak and peril. The members from top left are David Collier - Tenor, Donald Jackson -Baritone, James "Slim" Davis - all parts, Gerald Best - Bass, Thaddeus Jackson - Tenor and Lester Black - Tenor. Upon their conception the members were in agreement with making their music a ministry that would not keep them confined within the traditional walls of the church. Their "Battlefield" consists of ministering to the sick and shut in, facilities for incarcerated youth and adults, hospitals, evangelistic tent meetings, and whatever else there is a need to provide encouragement. Back to Basix, the group's first release is a presentation of traditional gospel music with a contemporary touch. Featuring songs from the "Golden Age of Quartets", "Leave Your Burdens There" and "Love Lifted Me" to the contemporary chords of "This Day" and the title cut, "In Mutual Agreement." While remembering their Gospel roots and utilizing contemporary chord agreements, Mutual Agreement seeks to preserve a musical art form that has played an important part in our musical history. Always acknowledging Jesus for how they have been blessed, they sing in memory of those songsters who the Lord allowed to "pave the way."
