Directed by Weston Noble
Weston Noble, the senior statesman of American college choral music, director of music at Luther College, is an internationally acclaimed music educator and conductor, and this CD marks his 50th year at Luther. The equally acclaimed Nordic Choir performs these 13 sacred, classical pieces wonderfully. They are all stunning, but some of our favorites are Bach's "Singet Dem Herrn," Sergei Rachmaninoff's "Praise The Name of the Lord," Knut Nystedt's "Be Not Afraid," Kurt Bestor's "Prayer for the Children" and Hal Leonard's "The Battle of Jericho," arranged by Moses Hogan. The liner notes (containing period photos of Weston and the Nordic) are beautifully done and include all lyrics, as well as a history of this remarkable man and his choir. |
