This is the 2005 version of the Alexandria (VA) Harmonizers, one of the great SPEBSQSA male choruses of all time, boasting 4 International Golds and more than a double handful of silvers and bronzes. "Comfort" of course is a Christmas album, and Musical Director Richard Lewellen leads his 200+ singers in 14 classic tunes. The pictures on the liner notes are of a concert performance with the Harmonizers dressed as carolers, and then as elves in Santa's workshop. All our favorites are here: "Lo, How a Rose E'er Blooming," "Angels We Have Heard on High," "It Came Upon a Midnight Clear," "Do You Hear What I Hear," "Mr. Grinch" (featuring Four Aces), "Silent Night," "I Wonder What You're Doing for Christmas," "God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen" (featuring Four Aces), and "Auld Lang Syne." These songs are as filled with harmony and spirit as you can imagine, as if you've invited a couple hundred of the best carolers in the world to your house for the holidays, without having to feed them! Listen to It Came Upon a Midnight Clear in RealAudio. |
