The 18-strong all-male Dartmouth Aires, carrying on a long, proud choral tradition at Hanover, NH's Dartmouth College, bring us a surprising, fun CD. Surprising because of the groundbreaking experimental vocal percussion, which is almost indistinguishable from actual percussion, surprising for the full, rich sound, and fun because, well, we don't even need to look in the liner notes at the pix of the guys hamming it up to know they're having a good time. 12 finely-arranged covers, some of our favorites: Loverboy's "Working for the Weekend," Matchbox's "Bent," Pearl Jam's "Jeremy," Blessed Union of Souls' "Standing at the Edge of the Earth," Queen's 'Bicycle Race," The Rolling Stones' "Anybody Seen My Baby," Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers' "Don't Come Around Here No More"... in fact, they're all excellent. We want to see them live!
