Dr. Karle Erickson

Dr. Karle Erickson, in his 12^th season as Artistic Director and Conductor of World Voices, has a rich and varied professional background in education, having taught in the public schools for five years, been a professor at the collegiate level for 27 years, and conducted of hundreds of festivals and workshops in the United States and internationally.  His baccalaureate degree is from St. Olaf College, and both his graduate degrees from the School of Music, University of Illinois.  Professorships were at Lawrence University Conservatory of Music and Gustavus Adolphus College.  Other conducting responsibilities were with the Bach Society of Minnesota and the National Lutheran Choir. 

Under his baton, the singers and instrumentalists in World Voices have performed music from 70 countries and in 41 languages.  They have collaborated with such musicians as Sowah Mensah, Master Drummer from Ghana; Gao Hong, Chinese pipa artist; Janika Vandervelde, composer and conductor; Brent Michael Davids, composer and crystal flute player from the Mohican Nation; Reverend Tony Machado from Puerto Rico; Neil Newman, Cantor at Beth El Synagogue in Minneapolis; Cochise Anderson,     ; Ellen Kort, poet and dramatic reader; Mexican Dance Troupe . He is a recipient of ACDA of Minnesota’s highest honor: the distinguishing F. Melius Christiansen Lifetime Achievement Award.

Dr. Erickson and his wife, Hannah Marie, live in Eden Prairie, Minnesota, where he is the Canticle Choir Director at St. Andrew Lutheran Church.
