Mary Schmary: Smarty Pants

an mp3 sample

Four incredibly smart women have combined their musical abilities to write and create some of the cleverest, thought provoking, and humorous tunes available. For humor, check out "I Put You There" and "Little Fish." The politically inspired, classical sounding "Uterus" is a no nonsense getoutofmyface tune. All in all the thought provoking reflections are leavened by a collective intellect seldom encountered in in a field so frequently thought of as "merely entertainment." If you are willing to be harmonized into thinking differently than you do now, this is for you!

The Schmaries (19K)

Mary Schmary - articulate, eclectic, brilliant, soulful, and loopy as heck, the Schmaries have been a powerful force of Good for over 5 years. They have spread a capella joy at such Bay Area venues as the Sweetwater in Mill Valley, the Hotel Utah in SF, the Freight & Salvage in Berkeley, the Palms in Davis, the Harmony Sweepstakes at the Palace of Fine Arts, the SF Free Folk Festival, the High Sierra Music Festival, live on KPFA, Morgan's Cafe in Monterey, and the Red Vic in Santa Rosa.

They've opened for such excellent performers as Christine Lavin, Cheryl Wheeler, Patty Larkin, John Gorka, Talk of the Town, Boyz Nite Out, Red Meat and the House Jacks.

The Schmaries are deeply serious.
