The repertoire of the Toronto Children's Chorus ranges from sacred music of the Renaissance to contemporary works from many cultures. In addition they have maintained a 20-year tradition of presenting the treble works of Canada's finest composers to the world. "Songs of the Lights" is live recordings from the Chorus' 1999 tour of Australia and New Zealand, and features songs from folk, jazz and popular music genres. Most songs are piano accompanied by Ruth W. Henderson. There are 20 cuts here, our favorites being the 4 tunes from Imant Raminsh's "Songs of the Lights," "African Celebration," the six songs from Patriquin's "World Suite One," accompanist Henderson's "Don't Ever Squeeze A Weasel," "George Gershwin Medley," and Leonard Bernstein's "Somewhere." Excellent!
