Directed by John Rutter

A ruined English abbey silhouetted against a setting sun and a rising full moon graces the cover of "Brother Sun, Sister Moon." The extensive liner notes point out how much more in touch with the natural rhythms of day and night were the builders of the abbey, and the writers of the sacred Christian music of the Middle Ages and the Renaissance, in comparison to life in the 21st century. John Rutter directs the 30-member Cambridge Singers in Gregorian chants and polyphonic sacred music by such composers as William Byrd, John Taverner, Palestrina, Scheidt, Sheppard, Durufle and Robert Whyte, divided into two groups: "Music of the Morning Rite" and "Music of the Evening Rite." Meditative and uplifting!
