Storm Front

Storm Front barbershop quartet

In little more than a year's time, fledgling quartet Storm Front has been making a splash in the Barbershop world. After a 2nd place finish in the Rocky Mountain District contest in 2001, Storm Front qualified for International competition, and placed an impressive 19th in the world their first time out. The quartet bettered their International scores and won the 2002 RMD contest by a landslide and in 2004 finished 13th at the Louisville convention. Beyond the contest arena, Storm Front is filling its schedule with performances throughout the high plains and Rocky Mountain region, including an appearance at Music Camp in Idaho where they interacted with several hundred music students. With well over 50 years Barbershopping experience between them, Storm Front brings a wealth of energy, skill, emotion, and fun to the stage. We hope you enjoy their fine blend of vocal harmony!

Group members: David Ellis (tenor), Jim Clark (lead), Sydney Libsack (bass), Darin Drown (Baritone)

2010 International Barbershop Harmony Society Champs Storm Front describe as: "Three years, Nine contest sets, One Gold Medal. Enjoy Storm Front's journey on "The Road to Gold!" The group's extensive use of humor and parody, particularly directed at the process they have had to go through to finally win are a big reason why they have consistently been judged in the top ten. They placed sixth in Nashville in 2008, singing Showstopper parodies "The Champs are Coming Back," "We've Grown Accustomed to 3rd Place," and the hilarious "Don't Ask Me Why;" third in Anaheim in 2009, where they unleashed their "Medal Come Back" parody, the ludicrous "Lida Rose/Dream of Now" medley, and their Finalist "Top Ten Parody;" and Philadelphia 2010, where their
"Wonderful World" costumes, the contest rule "Anything Goes" parody and the manic Jukebox "Jukebox Saturday Night Medley (Car Song)" montage gave them their coveted Gold Medals! Although some of the inside Barbershop jokes went over our heads, as these are all live cuts, it's clear they all hit the judges and audiences right in their BHS funny bones. There are two discs here: Disc 1 has all six songs from their Finals performances in 2008 and 2009, and Disc 2 has all six songs from their incredible win in 2010. Several songs, such as the totally silly "Where or When," "Don't Fence Me In," "Lida Rose," and "We've Grown Accustomed to 3rd Place," are repeated, sometimes more than once. Wonderful harmonies, ringing, incredible closing chords, very funny, creative material—it all adds up to great entertainment, and, happily, finally, to Gold for Storm Front!

We Can Work It Out
Hey Jude
Paperback Writer (VP-Mike Davidson)
I'll Follow the Sun
Long and Winding Road

Just prior to taking home Bronze (3rd place) medals from the 2009 BHS Internationals in Anaheim, Storm Front released this amazing collection of Beatles tunes. Working with gifted arranger (and Gold medal barbershop quartet man) Jay Giallombardo, these are arrangements that remain honest to the original scores, but fit a world-class a cappella quartet. Many of the great Lennon/McCartney hits are here, "Eleanor Rigby," "Here, There and Everywhere," "Lady Madonna," "Norweigian Wood," "Across the Universe," "Fool on the Hill," "We Can Work It Out," "Hey Jude," "Paperback Writer," "I'll Follow the Sun" and "Long and Winding Road," rendered with brilliant Storm Front harmonies that give them a whole new flavor. "Beatles Tribute" is a Barbershop masterpiece, one of the best albums of the year. Major kudos to Storm Front's Jeff, Jim, Darin and Sid for pushing the Barbershop envelope with "Beatles Tribute"!

Much has changed for Denver-based Storm Front since they recorded their debut CD four years ago. They have performed in half the states in the USA, coached at numerous music schools around the country, and have twice been recognized as one of the top 10 Barbershop quartets in the world by the Barbershop Harmony Society, winning a 3rd place Bronze in 2007 and sixth place in 2008. "Storm Warning" has 14 winners that highlight the group's great comedic sense, ability to entertain and wonderful harmonies. Rodgers & Hart's "Have You Met Miss Jones?," Lerner and Loewe's "On The Street Where You Live," "Swinging on a Star," the silly group standard "Filbert the Frog," "Bare Necessities," Fats Waller's "There's Gonna Be the Devil to Pay," "The 12 Days of Christmas," "Bugler's Holiday" and "There's Something About That Name" are favorites.
