"Sweet Baby James" is from James Taylor's first U.S. album, this gentle acoustic lullaby has a sweet country feel to it. Extended accompanying vocal harmonies support the solo melodic line of the verse which unfolds into a rich homophonic chorus, serving to highlight the poetry of the lyrics. "That Lonesome Road" - James Taylor's beautiful ballad gains new life in this simply stated a cappella setting by arranger Kirby Shaw. Sensible voice leading makes chords easy to tune, uncomplicated rhythms allow the text to speak. Awesome, accessible writing in every edition. "Your Smiling Face" - A show stopper, for sure! Arranged in a collegiate, street-corner a cappella-style, with a featured Tenor solo. A fantastic change of pace.

Thie Olivia Newton-John hit from the '70s "Let Me Be There" translates perfectly as a gospel-edged pop piece for today's choirs. There's a little hint of Elvis, too. Well-crafted choral writing combines with rhythmic drive to make your group come alive. There's a brief hand clapping a cappella section as the piece builds toward the big finish. "Build Me Up Buttercup" - Think collegiate-style a cappella with a street corner, doo-wop twist! Great individual vocal lines layer to make this a full-sounding choral from start to finish. An excellent change of pace in any concert. Scat your way to success with this inventive vocal setting of the '70s favorite "Pick Up the Pieces", a soul classic by the Average White Band. "Your Smiling Face" - A show stopper, for sure! Arranged in a collegiate, street-corner a cappella-style, with a featured Tenor solo. A fantastic change of pace. Considered to be their farewell single, the 1983 ABBA hit "Thank You For The Music" gently grooves in this contemporary a cappella setting from Kirby Shaw. A great choice for smaller ensembles or concert groups. "Without a song or a dance, what are we?"

James Taylor : The Best of

James Taylor is a Grammy Award winning American singer-songwriter and guitarist born in Boston, Massachusetts, and raised in Carrboro, North Carolina. Taylor's career began in the mid-1960s, but his commercial and critical breakthrough came with the 1970 album Sweet Baby James, a collection of sensitive and introspective songs ranked among the greatest folk rock albums ever. He was part of a wave of singer-songwriters of the time that also included Cat Stevens, Carole King, Paul Simon, Joni Mitchell, Tom Rush, and Jackson Browne, as well as Carly Simon, whom Taylor later married, although the marriage did not last. During the early seventies his work achieved success among critics and the public, with hit singles like Fire and Rain and the U.S. number-one You've Got a Friend, a cover of Carole King's song. His 1976 album Greatest Hits was certified diamond and has sold more than 11 million copies. After the very successful JT (1977), he retained a large audience over the decades. This anthology captures the artistic essence of the legendary singer-songwriter James Taylor.

Chapter 6 : Swing Shift : 1 CD

Chapter 6 : Swing Shift

In addition to the gift of a thrilling and funny performance that won (against a very strong field of Regional winners) the 20th Annual Harmony Sweeps National Championship in San Rafael, CA, Chicago's talented all-male sextet Chapter 6 brought us a hot new CD! Happily, the three pieces that they performed at the finals, "Theme and Variations on 'It Don't Mean a Thing if it Ain't Got That Swing'" (which won for Best Original Arrangement), the hilarious 5-minute "Wizard of Oz," and even their encore performance (as Audience Favorite), "The 7th Wheel," which introduced us to the singing of their arranger, sometimes composer and sound engineer, Mark Grizzard. Grizzard also wrote the opening piece here, a fast-paced jazz number, "It's About Time." Rounding out the 11 songs are a nice Stevie Wonder cover, "Don't You Worry 'Bout A Thing," the BeeGee's hit "How Deep Is Your Love," the Gospel song "God's Love," an uptempo "What A Wonderful World," the very funny "Lost In Canada," James Taylor's "Your Smiling Face" and the bluesy "I'll Take Care of You." These guys are consummate entertainers, they have big fun on stage, and they can sing like angels. Like Chapter 6 at the Finals, "Swing Shift" is a hands-down winner!

Songlist: It's About Time, Don't You Worry 'Bout a Thing, The Wizard of Oz, How Deep Is Your Love, God's Love, What A Wonderful World, Lost in Canada, Your Smiling Face, I'll Take Care of You, It Don't Mean a Thing (If It Ain't Got That Swing)

Voce : People Change : 1 CD

Voce : People Change    Out of Print

The singers are Bruce Cable, Orville Cameron, Martin Murphy, Jeff Watt, and Trent Worthington. Together they are the notable Canadian group who have been awarded top honors at the 1998 Northern Harmony A Cappella Competition, sweeping the contest... Winner: Best Group, Winner: Best Original Song ("Let It Go"), and Winner: Audience Favorite. Now you are the winner with the smooth, rich harmonies which are so tight they might have been found in a barbershop quartet but the chords find more inspiration from popular, show tune, gospel, and doo-wop traditions. Almost all the tunes are original love songs which have been written by members of the group. The tempo's vary from ballad to doo-wop, light rock and there's even a blues tune with a great vocal harmonica break found on "You Won't Be Hurtin' Me (No More)." The notable covers are "Paper Moon" and James Taylor's "Your Smiling Face." This is a recording of lovely singing which exemplifies the world of contemporary a cappella which they just happen to define in the opening track, "A Cappella Music."

Songlist: A Cappella Music, It's Only A Paper Moon, Let It Go!, Together Again, People Change, Comfort In Love, Your Love, You Won't Be Hurtin' Me (No More), I'll Give My Life to You, Your Smiling Face, I Love Lovin' You, Spiderman
