Texas-based Sweet Adelines quartet Symmetry's debut recording is a sumptuous winner, with some very funny stuff ('The Baritone Blues,' 'The Moment I Saw My Thighs,' 'Love Potion No. 9' and 'Freddie Feel Good and His Funky Little Four-Piece Band,' romantic heart-tuggers ('Oh How I Miss You Tonight,' 'Roses of Yesterday' and 'It's a Pity to Say Goodnight)' bluesy tunes ('The Birth of the Blues' and 'The Last Blues Song') and upbeat foot-tappers 'Take Me to the Land of Jazz,' 'When My Baby Smiles at Me' and 'When My Baby Smiles at Me'). There's lots of favorites here, and a great start for sweet-sounding, very entertaining Symmetry. |
