Female Contemporary Quintet from AB, Canada.

The CHICKistory (no, it's not a medical condition!)

The CHICKAdivas found each other in a "cosmic event" in April 2002 - a classified ad wanting female singers to form an a cappella group. Two singers grew to five over the years, to accommodate more dynamic and interesting harmonies. We have performed at fundraisers, community, private, and corporate events in Edmonton and around Alberta, and written and recorded corporate jingles.

One of our greatest achievements is winning the a cappella competition Northern Harmony 2003 ( A generous prize donation from MEHCo Inc. enabled us to record our first CD. "CHICK Us Out!", was released in 2004 at Festival Place in Sherwood Park to a sold-out house. There were strong indications that we had finally hit the big time: 1) there were scalpers selling tickets at the door; 2) the sound system blew up - our first true "smoke 'n' light show"; 3) we had men's underwear thrown at us - move over Tom Jones, here come the CHICKS!

Another very memorable event was performing with The McDades and Anne Vriend on CKUA radio's Christmas Morning 2-hour special in 2004. Thanks to Bob Chelmick of CKUA, one of our biggest supporters!

Our 2nd CD "Wintersong" was released in 2006 this time to two sold-out shows. We unveiled our first 2 original songs: Wintersong, based on the German Christmas carol "Leise rieselt der Schnee" (with English lyrics by Regina & music and arrangement by Rebecca) and the French-Canadian carol Entre le Boeuf et l'ane Gris.

On March 5, 2010 we had an awesome concert where we hosted Cadence, another a cappella group from Toronto, who have 2 Juno Award nominations. It was a treat to see and hear the talented guys from Cadence and join them on stage with a concert finale song in 9 part harmony!

What lies in the future?

A cappella world domination, of course! But we'd also be happy with singing together 'till we're old and grey. Ya, we know, some of us are already there!

And we'd be ecstatic to do more jingles and recordings for soundtracks for film and video. If you have any connections, drop us an email!

And remember...We're for Hire!

If you're looking for unique entertainment for a birthday, anniversary, wedding, or corporate event, we'd love to sing up a storm. Drop us an email with information on your event and we'll be in touch! Or download our brand new brochure, designed by one of our own CHICKS Marion McFall of eye talk studio.

CHICKAdivas : Chick Us Out

Edmonton, Alberta, Canada's 5-woman "a cappella chicks with swing and style!" quintet Chickadivas found each other in a "cosmic event" in 2002, and in their first five years together they've gone through 4 sopranos and 4 altos, and won the Northern Harmony 2003 a cappella competition. Christmas concerts around Alberta have been very successful, and a sold-out concert in March celebrated the release of "Chick Us Out!," their debut CD. 10 songs, with some nice Canadian folk tunes like "Feller from Fortune," "The Morning Dew," "She's Like the Swallow," and the silly, sexy "The Log Driver's Waltz;" vintage rock classics like "Under the Boardwalk," "Lollipop" and B.E. King's "Stand By Me," the Swing anthem "Mr. Sandman," and, incongruously, the Eurythmics' hit, "Sweet Dreams." The Chickadivas have a fresh, innocent sound and obviously love what they're doing. "Chick Us Out" marks a promising beginning for one of Canada's best new a cappella groups!

Songlist: Under the Boardwalk, Feller From Fortune, The Morning Dw, Sweet Dreams, Mr Sandman, Hard Times, Stand By Me, She's Like The Swallow, Lollipop, The Log Driver's Waltz, Frequent Listener Reward Track

CHICKAdivas : Wintersong

These 5 "a cappella chicks with swing and style" from Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, who have been entertaining audiences together since 2002, and who were winners of Northern Harmony 2003, bring us their 2nd CD, a Christmas album, after their well-received debut CD, "Chick Us Out!" There are 16 spirited Christmas favorites here, particularly fine are Guylaine's solos on the Czech carol "Rocking" and "What You Gonna Name Him?," Marion's solos on traditional French carol "Entre le boeuf et l'ane gris" and the Austrian traditional carol "He Smiles Within His Cradle," Regina's solos on "It's Beginning to Look a Lot Like Christmas" and "I'll Be Home For Christmas," Rebecca's solo on Kirby Shaw's "Jamaican Noel," the title tune, a German Carol, with English lyrics by Regina, and the Kirby Shaw-arranged "White Christmas." A beautiful Christmas collection from Canada's talented CHICKAdivas.
