formed in November of 1997. Founders Joe Antonioli and John Hadden had worked together in preceeding years, John recording and producing several recordings for the UVM Top Cats of which Joe was the Musical Director. Both boys were aching to start up a professional group, so, when the time was ripe, they did! True to its name, RA found its musicians in a rather random way--through want ads in local Burlington, Vermont papers and via word of mouth. We think we lucked-out, finding us some very fine musicians!

My Sweetest Taboo Fly Like An Eagle Yours Take Me To The River Smells Like Teen Spirit Brick House Possession Africa For You Learning To Fly Come Together |
The three women and four men of this association cover Top 40
hits, past and present, plus a couple of originals, with smooth sophistication.
Whether Sadešs "My Sweetest Taboo" or the classic funk of "Take Me To The River"
and "Brick House," their tone is full and their feel relaxed, establishing a
mood that is subdued. The arrangements are solidly effective, tailored for fit,
without gaudy or unnecessary embellishment. The groupšs interpretation of Nirvanašs
"Smells Like Teen Spirit" deserves special mention; they slow the tempo dramatically,
which exposes the haunting melody underneath. Their original tunes evoke comparisons
to Toto and Sarah McLachlan (a connection that Random Association confirms overtly,
by including "Africa" and "Possession" in this collection).
