The Treble Chorus of New England, in residence at Merrimack College, has a long history of championing performances of classical and fine contemporary literature for children's voices. Founded in 1975 by Marie Stultz, the Treble Chorus provides exceptional choral training to youth, and serves to educate and develop a love and understanding for classical music. Under the direction of Marie Stultz, children (ages five through 18) receive high quality music training and perform concerts that benefit diverse audiences through the region and worldwide. This highly-acclaimed choir has appeared with many opera companies, choral societies, and symphony orchestras. They have garnered standing ovations and rave reviews in England, Canada, and Germany. They concluded their 25th Anniversary season with joint concerts with the Mississippi Girlchoir under the baton of the distinguished conductor and composer, Sir David Willcocks at Old South Church in Boston.
In keeping with its goal of educating and generating new audiences in classical music, the Treble Chorus presents two educational concerts anually at Merrimack College. The success of these performances is a tribute to the enthusiasm and talents of the 100-plus members of the choir as children sing for children.
Now in their third season the KinderChorus of New England led by Maire Stultz and the Men's Choir of New England led by Conductor Robert Barney offer music education to an expanded audience. The Men's Choir offers men and boy's changed voices a unique choral experience. KinderChorus, our non-reading ensemble, is designed to teach children to sing in tune, perform great literature, build stage presence and teach basic theory and music skills. All rehersals are held at West Parish Church in Andover Massachusetts.
Marie Stultz is author of the acclaimed book on singing with children, Innocent Sounds, Building Choral Tone and Artistry in Your Children's Choir ~ A Personal Journey. She is also the author of numerous articles for national music periodicals. Her choral series for treble voices is widely recognized for its high quality of content. She has also written original music for both chamber ensemble and chorus with orchestra. As Founder and Artistic Director of the Treble Chorus of New England at Merrimack College, composer and conductor Marie Stultz has seen her dream of a professional-caliber children's choir grow from infancy to artistic maturity. The chorus founded by Ms. Stultz in 1975 made its international debut in 1992, performing at both the Shrewsbury Festival and London's famed St. Martin-in-the-Fields. In addition, Ms. Stultz served as festival director of the combined children's choirs at Shrewsbury. In November of 1992, she returned to London with the Treble Chorus as it garnered more kudos, ushering in Christmas in New England at Harrods and acting as New England's youngest cultural ambassadors. In 1994, the choir made its Canadien debut with the Toronto's Children's Chorus. In 1996, they received critical acclaim in Leipzig and Dresden, Germany. In April of 1999 they made their first appearance at Disney World, performing at the Epcot American and German Pavilions.

The CD also includes the cycle "Friday Afternoons" which Benjamin Britten wrote to assist music lessons. "Ode to Shelley," written by chorus director Marie Stultz, is a set of four a cappella songs on Shelley poems and was inspired by the lake district of Northern England.
