The Lawrence Children's Choir was founded in the fall of 1991 by Janeal Crabb Krehbiel and Marilyn Crabb Epp. The first choir consisted of 40 members from the 4th-8th grade and was supported by the Lawrence Arts Council for the first two years. In September of 1993, the choir incorporated as a not-for-profit organization and added the Choristers development choir under the direction of Pam Bushouse.
A co-founder and current Artistic Director of the Lawrence Children's Choir, Janeal Krehbiel has been a clinician and festival judge throughout the United States. Her appointments include Featured Clinician at both St. Olaf College, Westminster Choir College, Montreal Music Conference, and at the North Carolina Summer Institute of Choral Arts. She directs children's and junior high choirs at camps and festivals and has held college/university seminars across the country. Having taught K-12 vocal music in Denver public schools and in Hesston, Kansas, Janeal is currently in her tenth yea in Lawrence, Kansas, teaching at Southwest Junior High School. She previously spent eighteen years as the children's choir director at the Bethel College Mennonite Church. Mrs. Krehbiel's publishing credits include numerous articles about children's and youth choirs. She is also a past president of the Kansas Chapter of the American Choral Directors Association. In July, 1999, Janeal received the Harry Robert Wilson Award for outstanding contribution to choral art in Kansas.

"Here's To Song" is The Lawrence Children's Choir's second CD, once again directed
by founder Janeal Krehbiel and accompanied by co-founder Marilyn Epp. There
are 30 songs here, all but a couple are accompanied by piano or piano and clarinet
or oboe. The 70-voice choir takes more chances on their second CD, in the form
of more solos and more adventuresome arrangements. The song selection continues
to be all over the map, from Gabriel Faurešs "Pie Jesu from Requiem Mass" to
Joan Varneršs wonderful "When I Am Silent." These kids don't hold anything back,
and can hit the high notes with ease and skill. Here's to the children, Ms.
