UnderAge

UnderAge is a group of four young ladies (ages 14-17) singing a cappella 4-part harmony, mostly in the barbershop style.  They have been working and performing together for 3 years.  Each girl is an accomplished vocalist in her own right, thus making their sound strong, full and mature.  They not only sing with maturity and poise, but are also seasoned performers capturing their audiences with wit, humor and charm.

Their list of accomplishments over the last few years is impressive.  In July of 2005, in Greenville, South Carolina they won the highest honor for women under 25.  UnderAge now reigns as the 2005 International Young Women in Harmony Rising Star Champions for the Sweet Adelines International Organization.  In 2003 and 2005 they were the Pacific Shores, Region 12 champions for the Sweet Adelines’ Rising Stars competitions.  In July 2002 they were awarded first place in the small vocal group category in Los Angeles with the World Championship of Performing Arts.
 
UnderAge has performed all over the country for private, public and professional shows, benefits, educational symposiums, community service and professional sporting events.  Most recently they appeared in Detroit on the same bill as the legendary “Kingston Trio”, and on the International Stage for the Sweet Adelines’ 60^th Anniversary and Quartet competition finals.

We caught a live performance by this talented young Sweet Adelines quartet at the Harmony Sweeps Bay Area Regionals a year or two ago, and joined the audience in rousing ovations. 16-year-old Brittany, 17-year-old Mary, 15-year-old Mia and 18-year-old Caitlin are seasoned performers who touch audiences with their wit, humor and charm as well as their sweet harmonies. "We Go Together" features 12 tunes, Barbershop chestnuts like "Georgia On My Mind," "Last Night on the Back Porch" and "Whatever Happened to the Old Songs" and "Once Upon A Time;" show tunes like "I Feel Pretty," "Angel of Music/Phantom of the Opera" and "We Go Together" from "Grease;" and pop tunes like the Rascals' "Feeling Groovy," Billy Joel's "And So It Goes," and "Happy Days/Get Happy Duet" featuring Brittany and Mia. We have to send some strokes to Sweet Adelines for cultivating and encouraging groups like UnderAge, who are off to a great start as budding Sweet Adelines, and a cappella, stars!

Brittany, Tenor, age 14; Mary, Bass, age 15; Mia, Lead, age 14 and Caitlin, Baritone, age 17 are lovely, casually dressed and very young-looking (2 of them still have braces) in a photograph on the front of the one-page liner notes of their debut CD, "Moments to Remember." On the photo on the back, they look much more mature, nicely coifed and wearing matching gowns, earrings and, oh yeah, Sweet Adelines medals around their necks. On July 22nd Sweet Adelines held their 2005 "Rising Star Quartet Contest," for groups age 25 or younger, in Greenville, South Carolina, and Sunnyvale, CA's UnderAge took the Gold! "Moments" is an impressive first CD, with 11 excellent covers, some favorites: "Whatever Happened to the Old Songs," "Mister Sandman," "This Little Piggy Went to Market," the title tune, "One Fine Day," "Java Jive," "Sentimental Journey" and the final cut, Billy Joel's "And So It Goes." We think it's a very good move on Sweet Adelines' part to encourage younger singers, and we expect great things of UnderAge!
