Rememberance, a four-man, one-woman Doo-Wop quintet, was formed in 1993 and has become one of the top a cappella groups in the New York-New Jersey area. 'Memories' is their second CD. 20 excellent covers, concentrating primarily on NYC-area groups from 1956 to 1966. Some favorites (most new to our ears): 'Brenda,' by the Cupids, 'Love Bound' by the Universals, 'Lorraine,' by the Bonnevilles, the Corvairs' (great name, unfortunately lousy car) 'True, True Love,' the Five Satins' 'All Mine,' the Jesters' 'Love No One But You,' and the Crests' sweet 'Six Nights A Week.' But the beauty of 'Memories' is that we could imagine we were listening to a reissue collection, Rememberance is that good and smooth - they've got the material and that sweet sound! |
