The Los Angeles Children's Chorus, serving children from diverse cultural and economic backgrounds, providing them with a comprehensive music education and performance program. The Concert Choir, for instance, has performed with the LA Philharmonic, the LA Master Chorale and LA Chamber Orchestra, and at the Hollywood Bowl. Touring is an important part of the program, the choir has toured throughout Europe, Australia, and North America in previous seasons. "Future" includes highlights from the 2002-03 season, which focused on contemporary repertoire and techniques, as well as cherished traditional songs. 19 songs, with some accompaniment, divided into 3 sections, "Future Sounds," which includes John Adams' eclectic "The Palm from El Nino," and Pekka Kostianinen's difficult, striking "Revontulet;" "Past Inspirations," which includes Jacob Handl's lovely "Congratulamini Mihi Omnes," George F. Handl's "Sing With Pleasure," Randall Thompson's sweet "Echo From Two Childhood Songs" and "Away From The Roll of the Sea," by Allister MacGillivrey; and "In Celebration Of The Holidays," which includes Bach's soaring "O Jesulein Suss," Britten's "Deo Gratias," W.H. Perry's "To Bethlehem" and the traditional "Riu, Riu, Chiu." This is one of the finest young choruses in the world, effortlessly singing a difficult, well-chosen repertoire.
