Featuring long-standing founding members Simon Carrington and Alistair Hume, this entertaining yet informative production discusses the formation of the King's Singers and their history, group organization (democratic) and planning, as well as, of course, their music. Featuring the Gustavus Choir, the King's Singers take various pieces in their repetoire, including the Shaker hymn, "Gift To Be Simple," to analyze and demonstrate matters of technique. Blend, phrasing, dynamics and interpretation are considered and applied, showing the King's Singers remarkable attention to detail. The importance of listening, when singing within an ensemble, is emphasized. The King's Singers describe their own style as somewhere between the courtly and the sacred, and we couldn't agree more!
