Formed in 1995 in the Fresno/Clovis, CA area, mixed a cappella ensemble The Jubilation Singers got together with the purpose of singing Christmas music in Victorian costume. There are currently 18 performers, including 3 husband and wife duos. They have since expanded their repertoire to include patriotic, jazz, spiritual and other popular selections. Impressively costumed and smiling broadly in the full color liner notes, they look like they're having a great time, and we can dig it! 26 songs, standard carols like 'Let It Snow, Let It Snow, Let It Snow,' 'Silver Bells,' 'Santa Claus Is Coming to Town,' 'Deck The Halls' and 'Coventry Carol' and pop/romantic songs like 'Holiday Romance,' 'All Alone Beneath the Mistletoe' and 'Merry Christmas Darling' intersperse with patriotic tunes like 'America,' 'America the Beautiful' and 'The Star Spangled Banner.' 'I'll Be Home for Christmas' and 'Auld Lang Syne' are appropriately the last two cuts on this spirited, feel-good CD.
