Berlin Voices is an outstanding 2-man, 2-woman German Jazz quartet who worked with some of the best arrangers on the vocal jazz and pop scene, such as Darmon Meader and Peter Eldridge (New York Voices), and German arrangers Jorg Achim Keller, Wolf Kerschek and Oliver Gies. The full-color, bilingual liner notes tell us all about the 14 finely-crafted cuts. Some favorites are the a cappella cut 'Stille Nacht,' piano accompanied songs like 'Medley: The First Noel/A Child is Born,' 'Mary's Lullaby,' 'Ich Steh An Deiner Krippen Hier,' Coventry Carol,' and 'You Make It Feel Like Christmas;' and jazz ensemble-accompanied 'Joy to the World,' 'It's Christmas Time All Over the World,' 'Es Kommt Ein Schiff, Geladen' and 'I Wonder As I Wander.' There's also a pair of nice instrumentals here. If you love cutting-edge jazz, hot arrangements and the Holidays, it's all 'About Christmas!'
